I love this for using up all the scraps!!! bitty bits & pieces: A Little Change! 2.5” Scrappy Quilts, Square Quilt Blocks Patterns Simple, Square In A Square Quilt Block, Scrap Basket, Reproduction Fabrics, Feedsack Quilt, Quilt Book, Scrap Quilt Patterns, Log Cabin Quilts

I've been ready for a little change lately as you can see from my new header and background. My new background is thanks to Aqua Poppy Designs. Isn't it simply darling? She has some really fun and free backgrounds if you're looking for something fresh and new. I haven't jumped in totally and done a major overall but that's definitely in the horizon as I continue to make my blog look more professional and all matchie matchie (can you spell matchie matchie that way? lol). I had so much fun…

On Saturday, The Husband and I got out early to be among the first ones at the Big Flea Market at the Expo Center here in Fredericksburg. This show has 300 dealers (according to the advertisement) with a great assortment of things to see. Even though our house is full and we have just about everything we want, we still go to shows like this to look and learn and see what prices things are bringing these days. Every once in a while, I find something that I have to have. As we were going…

Sears Roebuck Catalog Vintage, Feedsack Quilt, Feedsack Fabric, Make Do And Mend, Silk Fabrics, 1930s Fashion, Feed Sacks, Vintage Material, Mail Order

Here's a page from a 1933 Sears and Roebuck catalog showing different types of fabrics that were available for a few cents per yard. My favorite pieces are the fabric in the upper left hand corner of the page. This second advertisement is for Silk Bubble Crepe fabrics from a 1934 catalog. It is a really nice representation of the colors of silk bubble crepe that were available. Crepe was all the rage for dress fabric during this time.

To say I've enjoyed being home would be an understatement. It's been SO good to be home! We've been busy, but our days are filled with blessings. Here's a recap of our week. I didn't intend for this post to be so long, but try as I might, I can't seem to get a quick daily post written so you get it all at once. Sorry! Just know this did not all take place on one day. We're busy, but not THAT busy! 😉 On Sunday DH smoked some quail and I made quail stew - a favorite around here: We've had…

Feedsack Frenzy quilt - almost done Feed Sack Quilts, Feedsack Quilt, Quilt Blocks Easy, Feedsack Fabric, Antique Fairs, Make A Quilt, Star Quilt Blocks, Colorful Quilts, Feed Sacks

I have been collecting feedsacks for a long time - at antique malls, antique fairs, and ebay. Now to use them... and make a quilt that looks vintage, not too 'pretty'. But of course don't we collect the pretty fabric? So I had a bunch of 3 inch squares left over from a previous project. A simple design, using them up, and vintage fabric for the border. And another feedsack (from ebay) for the back. A bright orange yellow flower pattern. And you can see some of the feedsack fabric I used…
