Snapdragons are started very early with tiny seeds. When I tried to grow these seeds my first year, I had no idea how successful they would be or not. After starting snapdragons, growing, and harvesting for my first season, I find them entirely easy to start and grow and they are my absolute favorite for spike flowers in arrangements. Their scent is beautifully amazing, as well as they array of colors and shapes they come in. Rosalind Yoder | Indiana flower farm on Instagram: "Ok I’ll just be honest, I don’t always do the best with seedlings under grow lights 🫢 now you know my deepest gardener secret.
I tried growing snapdragons under my grow lights without success..so last February (late winter) I decided to grow them in plastic jugs using the winter sowing method and I was thrilled with the results. Mid -Late March the snapdragons started sprouting and early May I planted the seedlings into the cut flower garden.
They took minimal care from me..just the way I like to grow my seedlings 😆 This year I’ve started all my snapdragons this way again and already have a whole bunch of seeds that sprouted.
P.S. I’m in growing zone 5b.

Ria - Cottage garden and flower growing on Instagram: "I’ll soon be sowing my next batch of snapdragons and I can’t wait! 🌱 I tend to wait until February because the light levels are starting to ramp up then, and also because I haven’t sorted my seed starting area inside the house yet 😆 I’m having to rethink my usual arrangement now that I have a cheeky little cat that likes to nibble seedlings! I’ve already got a good stock from an autumn sowing, but you can never have too many snaps, right?! I’m going heavy on the Madame Butterfly varieties this season as I’ve fallen in love with the huge, robust flowers that are great for cutting. I love how snapdragons work so well with other flowers, as shown at the end of this reel. Here’s the varieties I’m growing: 🌸Legend Light Pink 🌸Madame Butterfly Varieties, Flower Growing, Madame Butterfly, Fallen In Love, Little Cat, To Wait, Seed Starting, Growing Flowers, Cottage Garden
