Whenever parents ask me if they should teach their little guys to sit or stand when first starting to potty train I always recommend sitting! 🚽 Here’s why: Asking your son to sit when they poop but stand when they pee adds excess confusion that is unnecessary. But in the early days, if you ASK, you’ll be met with a NO! and then you got yourself a straight up power struggle. A choice: “Do you want the little potty or big potty?” Or, “Do you want to go first or me to go first?” (Only 2 choices, ever) A challenge: “I bet I can beat you to the potty!” Or: “I bet you can’t fill that with pee.” (Works well for those spicy kids). 🧡✌🏽 **** I’m the author of Oh Crap Potty Training and Oh Crap I Have a Toddler.
