ORLUarts | Muralist on Instagram: "I've been asked a few times recently how I achieve soft, blended layers on large scale realistic acrylic murals. Here are the four main ways I get this look:

🎨 1) Blending "wet into wet": pre mix a few colors and have them ready on your palette. Begin with your darkest color and block in where your shadow lies, and paint a little beyond where you intend for the shadow to end. Then immediately go in with your lighter color, blending between the two until you have a seamless look. This may take a few layers to achieve really luminous rich blends, trust rhe process! If one of your colors dries too soon, wait until the whole area is dry and then try again.

🎨 2) Glazing: I use this constantly. Glazing is great for adding shadows, intensifying pigment with Large Scale Acrylic Painting, Soft Blended Layers, Blended Layers, Too Soon, The Shadow, Color Blending, Try Again, Dark Colors, The Four

It looked like a door, leaning against the wall beside our tree. Upon opening it, I realized it was a canvas, and he told me it was the largest one that would fit in his father’s truck. It was…
