Planning Our Plaster Hood for the New Kitchen - Plank and Pillow

Henry and I are planning on doing a plaster hood in our new build kitchen. We love the sleek modern aesthetic a plaster hood adds to a kitchen. The only problem we are having at this point is finding someone to actually do the plaster hood.

When we started planning our kitchen renovation three years ago, this curved hood was in my mind’s eye and I couldn’t let it go. I thought I wanted a plaster hood because I had seen them in so many designer kitchens I love, and then I thought I wanted to limewash it (myself-hah..thank god I didn’t), and in the end we went with a cabinet grade paint finish. Simple, clean, beautiful and just the right amount of curvy beauty. Pulling the custom hood off can be kind of tricky when it’s not something your cabinet/kitchen company does regularly so sticking to your vision and being flexible is key. We had our cabinet maker build the hood out of wood and put it over the vent that our contractor specified.
