Why Seawater Restoration Matters

The ocean is one of Earth’s most powerful climate allies, absorbing about a quarter of the carbon dioxide we emit each year. But as emissions rise, the ocean is reaching a breaking point.

How Our Process Works

Planetary’s seawater restoration process uses ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE).

We introduce purified alkaline minerals into coastal outfalls at existing infrastructure sites, such as powerplants or wastewater treatment facilities.

Reforestation accelerates carbon dioxide removal on land.
Seawater restoration increases removals on our coasts.

OCP: Our Process

Our Ocean Carbon Platform

High-Purity Minerals

We recover natural alkaline minerals from industrial byproducts using our patented process.

Infrastructure Integration

We introduce minerals to water flowing through existing coastal facilities like wastewater and power plants,
reducing acidity and restoring balance

Scientific Oversight

We partner with academic institutions and regulators to ensure safety and performance.

Third-Party Verification

We measure the outcomes of our projects and submit the results to third-party verifiers to produce high quality, certified carbon removal credits

Code of Conduct

Planetary is committed to developing OAE that is ethical and sustainable by all metrics.

Our Code of Conduct was written to guide all our work, including our project development and our lab science. It applies to everyone who participates in this work with and on behalf of Planetary.

In every stage of our operations we strive to be:

  • Safe
  • Impactful
  • Science-Driven
  • Engaged
  • Transparent
Safe

We follow the laws, rules, and guidelines in every region where we operate. In jurisdictions with weak regulatory requirements, we conduct our operations in line with emerging best practices for deployment.
