Critics Consensus

While Greer and Lyonne's sisterly chemistry carries Addicted to Fresno, it's not enough to overlook the script's missteps in humor and levity.

Hannah Hodson Autostraddle The movie is a barrel of laughs, and the cast is chock full of comedy royalty. Aug 17, 2021 Full Review Russ Espinoza Austin Chronicle Greer's character ultimately gives the audience too little to root for. Aug 29, 2016 Full Review Mark Kermode Observer (UK) Naff jokes about rape, the Holocaust, and the wretchedness of Fresno leave laughter in short supply as the shrieky action pinballs self-consciously from barmitzvahs to pet cemeteries. Rated: 2/5 Oct 11, 2015 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie The sisterly bond at the center winds up resonating the most, but it seems problematic when the most memorable parts of a comedy are the unfunny parts. Debbie F I love the cast and it's funny Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Kim B The writing tries really hard to be subversive to establish story. We get it, Judy Greer'a character is supposed to be the absolute WORST. The acting is what helps the film from rotting, it cools down with great character interactions like Malcolm Barrett and Judy Greer's cigarette talk or the strong sisterhood dynamic between Natasha Leonne and Judy Greer. Molly Shannon is very memorable as always. I did enjoy the point overall: live and heal for yourself. Honorable mention for Jessica St. Clair and Judy Greer's toy education scene. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/26/23 Full Review Alex T I don't understand why some critics shit on this movie. I thought it was a beautifully crafted. I have met Natasha before and maybe I am biased because she's a friend of a dear friend, but I though the story and acting was absolutely entertaining and well done. I am not a word smith so forgive my shortcomings here but I have to say something as this movie was very fun to watch for me. I love the cast and their acting was on point. I am sad for anyone who doesn't have the ability to enjoy this film and the work they put into it. I love this movie and the cast. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Very funny! so many clever lines that were delivered well. I am not sure why it got such low rating. We laughed through the entire movie. We liked several of the characters. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review christopher c. m It's just like "Thelma and Louise" if the guy was innocent of rape and was murdered anyway. This isn't female empowerment, these are a couple of unlikable cows who deserve prison. It was not remotely funny, I think I laughed twice during the whole 85 minute runtime. It's just awful in so many levels. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review ellen hohbach s Well acted. Great to see unusual female characters (troubled sex addict and lesbians) in a film and have them be the focus. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
