Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …one of the better Lovecraft adaptations…lands somewhere between traditional horror and that new fangled sci-fi… Rated: 3/5 Jul 25, 2024 Full Review Paul Mount Starburst Nearly scuppered by a bland performance by troubled star Nick Adams, the film is lifted enormously by both Karloff as Nahum and Freda Jackson as the disfigured Letitia, who give the story a much-needed sense of urgency and dramatic dynamism. Rated: 3/5 Jul 11, 2024 Full Review J.C. Maçek III PopMatters This creature feature, based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft, might have been more amazing had the makers not taken such pains to borrow from Edgar Allan Poe. Rated: 6/10 Jan 28, 2014 Full Review Mike McGranaghan Aisle Seat It's debatable whether the three acts of Die, Monster, Die! fit together well, but there's no doubt they collectively add up to one deliriously goofy B-movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/24/23 Full Review Dean W Love this movie. It has all the tropes of classic horror and the atmosphere is what sells it. The sets, the actors the music and sound and yes the effects though they are not the greatest evoke a doomed quality that was intended. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review Stu B An intriguing premise--a young American travels to England to hook up with his fiancee and meet her reclusive mom and spooky dad at their enormous countryside estate--is quickly sabotaged by an uneventful script, mostly lame acting, and a bizarre, sci-fi finale that is completely at odds with the promising horror flick vibe that preceded it. Nick Adams displays little range as the boyfriend and Suzan Farmer lacks dimension as the girl; only Boris Karloff as the father, in one of the final performances of his long career, offers a performance worth watching. The real question is why the filmmakers abandoned the eerie creepiness of the early scenes--scary townsfolk, a big, mysterious house, and the sense that SOMETHING sinister is going on, even if we don't quite know what it is yet--only to introduce, in blink-and-you'll-miss-it fashion, a handful of ultra-low budget special effects at the very last minute. If only "Die Monster, Die" was as exciting--hell, even as comically cheesy--as its title. Not recommended. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/08/23 Full Review sean s The early film color in this movie is pretty lush with nice lighting. The sets with all the wonderful antiques are worth 3 stars alone. Boris Karloff always puts on a good show, but the movie is not a real grabber though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Lots of walking up and down stairs ,through buildings, open and closed doors, over bridges, foggy spaces etc.Sometimes very bright candles are needed but a few moments later they are not necessary.Other reviewers have said much about the stars etc.Remember there are several monsters but not a "Die Monster Die" one. This film is not what it appears to be and has had several titles ,not worth much attention. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review william d Below average 1960s horror film fare. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
