On a vacation in Tuscany, two families -- one Danish, one Dutch -- meet and become fast friends. Months later, the free-spirited Dutch family extends an invitation to the more conservative Danish one for a holiday weekend getaway at their countryside home. However, it doesn't take long before things gradually get out of hand as the joy of reunion is replaced with misunderstandings. The Dutch hospitality quickly turns unnerving for the Danes, and they find themselves increasingly caught in a web of their own politeness in the face of eccentric... or is it sinister... behavior.

Critics Consensus

A social satire with razor-sharp teeth, Speak No Evil offers a darkly delicious treat for fans of misanthropic thrillers.

Audience Says

It's well-acted and definitely has something to say, but Speak No Evil isn't really scary -- and it'll be a tough watch for all but the most desensitized viewers.

Sep 16, 2022 Full Review Joseph Tomastik Loud and Clear Reviews The Danish Speak No Evil (2022) smartly utilizes dark social satire to slowly, quietly submerge viewers into genuinely disturbing horror. Rated: 4.5/5 Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Speak No Evil rips apart the false sense of security that people have when they think strangers are instant friends. The horror in this thriller isn’t delivered until the movie’s last third, but it packs a very bleak wallop. Sep 14, 2024 Full Review Joe Muldoon Battle Royale With Cheese Speak No Evil is an excruciating watch, and one worth surrendering ourselves to. A provocative satire of middle-class sensibilities, it forces its audience to look inwards in a way hitherto unexplored. Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Miša B Danish version of Speak no evil, is so much better than this. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/24 Full Review Andrea M The film starts off with an intriguing premise and strong performances from the cast, giving me hope for an engaging story. The first half manages to hold your attention, offering a glimpse of what could have been a solid movie. Unfortunately, everything unravels as the film progresses. The final act is nothing short of embarrassing, completely detaching from any sense of realism or logic. The ending is so ridiculous, it’s hard to believe it belongs to the same movie. What began with promise ends as a total waste of time. Save yourself the disappointment and skip this one. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/24 Full Review Anders C Splendid acting Some say it's not scary at all, but it's not a horror movie it''s thriller and what's terrifying that's this can happen anytime People do disappear and is never found again Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/17/24 Full Review Brad S What happens to the family and kid in this just blows me away. The father did not even put up a fight or even defend himself. Awful and a complete time waste! I am not watching the American remake at all as a result; the premise is just too meaningless. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Steven H This one got under the skin and stayed a long long time. It serves as a warning about allowing people to cross our boundaries until they devour the heart of who we are. The final half hour is a very tough act to get through if you have the stomach for it. The ending is bleak, grim and offers exactly no hope of redemption or justice. Watch it a second time knowing the ending counting the red flags and analysing how the complications of long term relationships result in unsaid resentments leading to tragedy. I hear the remake is a bit more hopeful. I do hope so because this one left me cold and stiff with horror. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Tony R Absolute garbage. Not scary, slow and boring. Who wants to watch a film where kids are abused? Im literally angry after watching it. Trash movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Read all reviews
