Micafil is the worldwide leader in RIP technology (Resin Impregnated Paper) for oil-free, dry bushings. These are extremely safe, protect the environment and lead to noticeable cost reductions.
Through the complex production process, a compact, liquid- and gas-tight insulation core will be manufactured.

Operational safety
No explosion hazard because of more vulnerable porcelain in the lower part of the transformer bushings Gas-tight (in oil-gas bushings the transformer is not threatened by penetrating gas) High emergency strength if insulator is damaged No fire or explosion hazard from leaking oil No environmental hazard from leaking oil Partial discharge free
Service
High earthquake resistance Partial discharge-free up to more than double service voltage High thermal strength (class E,10C) Low dielectric losses (tan <0.35%)
Application Micafil Resin Impregnated Paper bushings of type PORIP are designed for application on oil-filled transformers, covering the nominal voltage range from 4 kV to 170 kV. They are used to connect transformer winding leads with overhead lines or air-insulated bus ducts. The CT spaces of 0 and 300 mm are available as a standard, other lengths on request. The very short bushings lower part allows space saving transformer design. Routine testing Each bushing is routine tested before leaving the factory. The tests, either according to IEC or to IEEE standard, include partial discharge, tan and capacitance measurement, as well as power frequency voltage withstand test. The test tap is also tested.
Flexibility in design
Adaptable to different transformer and installation designs Insulator ideal for outdoor use Compact, space saving Installation, transport and operation in any position allowed Installation friendly
Accessories
Test tap Each bushing is equipped with a standard test tap. The test tap is connected to the outmost aluminium layer and is automatically earthed, Fig. 9. Each test tap is tested with 3 kV, 50 Hz, for 1 minute. For a testing purpose the cap must be unscrewed and female-female pin adapter used. Such an adapter is available from Micafil.
