    Each the above question-words is used with a difference purpose. 1. Whose is used for persons / possessors Example : a) Whose bag is heavier? b) Whose shoes are these? 2. Which is used for things or person (of a limited number) Example : a) Which of these dresses do you like? b) Which mountain did he climb? 3. Where is used to find out direction or place Example : a) Where will the beggar sleep tonight? b) Where can I find a good mechanic? 4. Whom is used to persons (as subjects of a verb) Example : a) To whom is this letter addressed? b) Whom do you want to speak to? 5. Why is used to find out the reason or cause Example : a) Do you know why he has been absent these few days? b) Why is the class so noisy? 6. What is used for things or person Example : a) What can be done for the JE victims? b) What is the colour of your car? 7. Who is used for persons (as subjects) Example : a) Who is she? b) Who can help me with the housework? 8. When is used to find out the time, date or year. Example : a) When can I see you for the appointment? b) When do you want me to deliver the new computer to your house? 9. How is used to find out the manner, condition or situation of a person, an action or a thing. Example : a) How did you come for the meeting? b) How many brothers and sisters do you have?
