Summer Internship
Between the first and the second year of the MBA Programme, students must undertake a projectbased summer internship of at least six weeks. The mandatory internship helps students to choose a functional area for their studies in year II of the MBA Programme and their careers later on. Through the internship, students gain valuable management experience early on in their careers and identify their long term career goals. Internship placements are aided by our MBA Placement Office.
The MBA Project Accounting and Finance l Commercial Banking l Corporate Finance l Fundamentals of Income Tax l Islamic Banking l Corporate Banking l Financial Engineering & Risk Management l Investments l Management of Financial Institutions l Financial Derivatives
The MBA Project is mandatory in the second year and is equivalent to two full courses. A real life client presents a managerial issue to a team of 4-5 MBA students and over the year, the group has to present a comprehensive report to the client and is graded accordingly. The project is an excellent application of what is learnt throughout the programme. The primary role of the Alumni Office is to provide a clear vision of the importance of alumni to the mission of the university and to develop, sustain and expand opportunities for alumni. The Alumni Office fosters and strengthens the intellectual and corporate connections to the LUMS community, and provides all alumni with a range of opportunities that will engage them with the university and with each other. Every year hundreds of alumni return to campus to celebrate their homecoming. These reunions offer alumni the opportunity to catch
up with old classmates, share experiences from their time at LUMS and find out about new developments at the School. Many alumni also decide to mark their anniversary year by making a collective Class Gift to the School to ensure that current and future students can get as much out of their time at LUMS as they did. The SDSB Luminites Association was formed in 2009 with the objective to cultivate and strengthen relationships with all the involved stakeholders; business and social enterprises. All the graduates of LUMS SDSB are the
members of this Association. The Associations affairs are run by an Executive Board elected by the SDSB alumni community. Alumni and friends have made a significant contribution to the new academic building of the Suleman Dawood School of Business, which is set to be in full operation and occupation by next year. Located adjacent to the University Mosque, the building will provide extensive and flexible teaching and learning space for the School.
