Doha, Qatar DB - Design, Build Sewage treatment tunnel 170 sq.km Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal) plans to construct Abu Hamour Southern Outfall Tunnel in Doha, Qatar. The purpose of the project is to provide main trunk surface water drainage for the majority of the southern half of Doha. The project includes the construction of 2 tunnels. The first tunnel will run from Musaimeer Street along the line of the proposed F Ring Road to a coastal pumping station located within the New Doha International Airport. The second tunnel will be constructed to collect surface water from pumping station SW5. NIPPON KOIE International Consulting Engineers is the engineering design consultant.

In March 2013, construction of the tunnel was ongoing. In Q4 2016, the project is expected to be completed.

In January 2013, construction of the tunnel started. On 24 October 2012, the DB contract was awarded to Impregilo . In September 2012, the bids for the DB contract were under evaluation. On 15 May 2012, bidders submitted their proposals for the DB contract.

In March 2012, the RFP for the DB contract was issued. In mid July 2011, 8 pre-qualified companies were shortlisted. On 22 March 2011, companies submitted their pre-qualification documents for the DB contract. In January 2011, the design of the tunnel was completed. In 2007, the design consultancy contract was awarded to NIPPON KOIE International Consulting Engineers. Scope of Work Construction of a tunnel including: - A 3.7 m tunnel, segment lined tunnel, 7 Km long - 18 shafts for access/maintenance/sewer connection - Three 4 m sewer connection shafts - Five 5 m maintenance shafts - An option to extend 3.7 m tunnel by a further 2.5 km including 5 additional shafts - Connection to Musaimeer street tunnel - Connection to the SW5 pumping station 2.4 m tunnel, 580 m long
