    Purpose
    In this activity you will test a number of foods to see which nutrients they contain.
    Procedure
    Follow the procedure outlined
    Summary of Nutrient Tests

    Nutrient
    Starch
    Glucose
    Fat or Oil
    Protein

    Test
    Place one drop of the brown
    iodine solution on the sample.
    Add 2cm of Benedicts
    solution to the sample and
    gently heat to boiling. I
    Smear sample on brown paper.

    Positive result

    Place sample a test tube


    containing 2cm of Biurets
    solution.

    Results
    1. Fill out the table below. List all the foods that you tested in the first column. Fill in your
