Thursday 5th September 2013 Soap Trailer break down Propp Hero (Princess), Villian, Helpor Todorov Equillibrium/Disequillibrium
um Straus Binary opposites Barthes Enigma Good and Evil
Eastenders trailer Judgment day for Max 30th October 2008 The trailer starts with a mans lower body close-up shot of his feet wearing quite smart shoes and suit pants. This could represent hes quite a powerful and a possible prop character because of what hes wearing is quite smart. The clip then moves on to the character walking in some sort of office looking building where he is approaching a security guard who is clearly a lower character role as some of a hero as hes dressed as a security guard. The character then walks off. The next scene sees a lift door opening with a mid close up of the character. The scene then jumps to a woman dressed as a maid approaching the character then jumps shots again to the other character glaring at her then jump shots back to the character just pressing a button on the lift making the character go away. By what the character is wearing this could mean that she is some sort of companion or helpor to this character but by the actions she does to him in this trailer it would seem like they arent talking to each other or had fallen out with something between them.
The next scene the character is walking through quite dark rooms from mid-long and mid-close up shots of the character but then sees him approaching a woman wearing smart clothes indicating she has the same sort of power then he does. She then makes a squeezing jester with her hands indicating that this character has hurt him, it then turns out that she is making the jester on a death bed which may indicate she wants to kill him. He then looks up and she has disappeared. He then gets a grab from his shoulder from behind him by a more taller more powerful and influencing character to him then shows him a dead body card and the camera zooms in on this and a voice starts to say Hes made his bed, but will he lie in it? Judgment day for Max and the camera then turns to Max and then cuts out to the Easternders sign. That last part of the scene all happens at a low angle shot indicating that the last character is influencing to Max in this episode and that he has a lot more power over Max. Throughout the clip the song Gods Gonna Cut You Down by Johnny Cash is playing throughout the trailer up until the voice over starts talking. This is all indicating to a possible death but hats the whole point of a trailer, to make you want the questions answered.
