It has been brought to my attention that many of your customers may have had their personal data accessed without their consent. This is a major issue. With the amount of data accessed your corporation could be facing a class action lawsuit. Your attempts to reconcile the situation have been alright, including the free year of credit monitoring to those effected, however there is more you can do to prevent this from happening in the future. I recommend that you get new card technology. Your company has invested in silicon chip cards in the past and I believe that is the way to go. You have already spent 40 million dollars and received 25 million from Visa for these chip-based cards; it is time to follow through with this plan. The reason America is such a big target for cybercriminals is that the technology we are using is outdated and much less secure than that of our European counterparts. Americans need to demand more secure methods of payment. You may experience backlash from customers who are no longer are willing to shop at your store out of fear of having their data accessed. You must reassure the customers by any means necessary that it is safe to shop at your store locations again. You may have to offer more incentives to get back customers, like your offering 10% off to members on Saturday and Sunday. Your customers need to know that you value them above all else.
