The Mystery At Oakwood Elementary, there are recess rules. Dont jump off the equipment, dont stand on the swings, dont climb up the slide, etc. However, every day at least one student breaks these rules. Breaking the rules means a punishment given by the teacher or, worse, the principal. If students know the rules, why do they break them? True or False Clues 1. Rules are in place to keep students for behaving in unsafe ways. Recess is a sort of trade off between teachers and students. Students are allowed to play on the playground and equipment, but they must follow a certain set of rules. Breaking a rule could result in an injury and multiple offenses or a serious offense could result in a severe punishment such as detention.
