Welcome to English 9!!
This year we will be staying very busy. Please feel free to contact me with questions at any point, and check out the class website which will help you find resources for assignments, see what you missed if you were absent, and ask questions if you need extra help. Parents are also welcome to use this website as a way to see what is going on in English class and get in touch if needed.
Along with the books we are going to be reading, every student will be participating in Shared Inquiry Discussions and keeping a Reader's/Writer's Notebook throughout the class. Every student will have their voice heard in class every day, whether in small groups or large group discussions. Our English 9 classroom will be a learning community where we acknowledge that every person in the room has something to contribute.
Our first novel will be The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. It will touch on many larger topics and allow us to dive in to the terminology and skills that will help students get ready for their career as they move forward in high school.
Please make sure to reach out with any goals or things you want extra help with! My schedule is on the back of this sheet so you can see when I am available throughout the day for more help or questions.
