State Standards to be addressed:
PE.6.2.01- Identify proper techniques necessary to perform a variety of movement forms (e.g. catching, running, throwing, striking, kicking).
PE.6.2.02- perform basic body mechanics necessary to develop new motor skills (e.g. opposite hand- opposite foot, head up, follow through).
National Standards to be addressed:
Standard 1- The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.
Objectives to be met: Students will successfully throw 10 balls to their target

Opening activity:
mins -Students will quickly change into appropriate gym attire and then report to their squad
lines for warm ups
-Students will perform 2 minute warm up (Jumping jacks, high knees, line jumps,
mountain climbers, burpees, push ups, and sit ups)
- Students will then clump up in the front of the gym where directions will be given

Developmental Activities:
-Students will watch video one with teacher and then discuss and demonstrate the skill

-After watching the video together the teacher will ask the following questions to guide
instruction for video one
1. Which type of grip will you use to throw a softball? C grip or 4 seam
2. When stepping to throw, where should your step be facing? Your target
3. Where should your glove side shoulder be facing? Your Partner
4. What can you use as a pointer when throwing? Your glove or Elbow
5. What should you do when your release the softball? Snap your wrist

-Students will then break into groups and we will do stations to work on this skill
Stations:
Target Practice (Throwing ball at wall targets)
4 Square throwing
Quick throws
Long toss
Summary/Closure:
-Review the same questions from the introduction of the video
- Introduce the skills for tomorrow
-Students go get changed

Adaptations for special needs:


-Aids in classroom for assistance
-Equally divide special needs students up so peers can help them also
- Possibly find something bigger for them to catch the softballs in instead of a glove
