Task 3
Task 3
Task 3
Environment
Focus: The learning environment.
Student teachers will observe how the classroom is organized and the different
interaction patterns in the classroom. They will observe the environment and the
resources available to facilitate teaching and learning.
Objective:
For student teachers to map the learning environment that exists in the classroom
including the layout of the seated area and learning centers.
Task
Make a sketch of the classroom and identify the function of each area.
Procedure:
Draw a map of the learning environment within the classroom and list the functions of
each of the activity areas. If possible take photographs of the classroom including
displays on the wall.
Examples:
Area
Function
wash area
Bathroom - washbasin
Library
Black board
display
Tables
Dressing area
Sound area
Clinic area
Things to consider:
Think about why the classroom layout is organized as it is. It organised in layout
which gave the students space to do different activities like learning ,playing
reading and dancing .
Ask your MST why the desk/tables are arranged as they are and the function of
each area of the classroom. The tables are arranged in the end of the class
because they are used for activity and snacks time ,also to have another
space for the kids to move around the class . There are dressing area its to
ensure if the students notes how their parents were . Also there are sound
area ,it is to see if the kids understand the sounds and if they have talent to
make harmonious voices . There are also the books area it is good for
students to talk to each other they also learn that its the quite place in the
class for reading . There are also the clinic area its to see if they understand
what the kids see in the real clinic so it contains baby dolls and clinic stuff .
And there are learning area in the middle of the class where they are
learning the phonics and the teacher read story for them wile they are
setting on the carpet In . There are also a pig space for the kids to run and
play .
Give examples of activities you observed and the way in which the
classroom organization makes these activities accessible. Consider
ease of movement within the learning environment. They use clay
on the table with the teacher they learnt new vocabulary wile
they are played and it was ease movement .
How and where are materials stored in the classroom? Do the
children/learners need to be able to get and put materials
away? The materials divide in different place there the simple
material where the kids can use and retained back like books ,
games and puzzle . And the other kind of the materials is stored
like papers and the board stuff and they are not allowed to use
them .
Observation
Based on your observations and discussions, summarize what you have observed. Use
descriptive vocabulary to clearly explain the learning environment in your class.
The classroom is organised in layout which gave the students space to do
different activities like learning ,playing reading and dancing .
The tables are arranged in the end of the class because they are used for
activity and snacks time ,also to have another space for the kids to move around
the class . They used the table for many activities like playing with clay on the
table with the teacher ,they learnt new vocabulary wile they are played , and it
was ease movement for the kids and the teacher. There are dressing area , its to
ensure if the students notes how their parents were clothes . Also there are sound
area ,it is to see if the kids understand the sounds and if they have talent to make
harmonious voices . There are also the reading area .It helps the students to talk
to each other . They also learnt that its the quite place in the classroom for
reading . There are also the clinic area its to see if the kids understand what they
see in the real clinic ,so it contains baby dolls and clinic stuff. And there is
learning area in the middle of the class where they are learning the phonics and
the teacher read stories for them wile they are setting on the carpet . The middle
of the classroom it also used to run and play .There are also three display in the
classroom , they contain the kids work and class activity . Two of them are in the
wall next to the door and the third is in the end of the classroom opposite the
teachers storage .The teachers storage is the area that she put her things
because she don't have a table . She put her materials like papers ,files and
display stuff , which they are not allowed for the students to use it , however
there are the simple material where the kids can use and retained back like books
, games and puzzles .
Reflection
This week, your reflection will be in a different style than the past two weeks.
Please base your reflection on the points below. Be sure to actually reflect (think
deeply about) the importance of the learning environment.
Are there areas in the class that encourage independent
learning? Give some examples. Why are these areas
important? yes, reading area its include the books shelves
and carpet , they let the students to find what they are
interesting about from the book shelves and they learn by
themselves without the teacher instruction .
The idea of learners being active learners. Discuss how the classroom
organization facilitates activities for the learners. The classroom divide to
different parts like the learning part is in the muddle of the classroom , the
reading part is in corner of the classroom, with space to let them read
comfortably , there are also playing part it has the largest space in the
classroom because kids are learning wile they are playing .
Think about classrooms you have been in in the past. Were there any that were
more comfortable than others? The class that I had when I was young it
doesnt contain any thing except the disks and the teachers .
Why is being comfortable in the classroom an important part of learning?
Being comfortable in the class room an important because if the students are not
feeling comfortable they will cant focus or do well as they should do .
