Raising Hope
Ministries
Raising Hope is a ministry run under the
Newman Baptist Church banner. The
ministry is a not-for-profit group who
volunteer their time for the community and
are financially supported by contributions
made to the church by family and friends
of the ministry. Raising Hope in Newman
is currently running their winter appeal
and is calling on any donations of shoes or
clothing. Your donations are most welcome
if you would please drop them off at the
Baptist Church on Welsh Drive.
The Baptist Church itself is undergoing
some changes with the arrival of a new
purpose built building to house all the
children and youth activities that the
church undertakes including Mainly music,
Sunday school and the youth programme.
The building arrived in mid July but due
to rain at the time it was unable to be
assembled until the weather subsided.
The building has a large room that can be
divided and another smaller room along
with kitchen and toilet facilities. This is
a great space that can be utilised by the
community as a WHOLE with the church
allowing private hire of the facility.
Pastor John and his wife, Rosemary Harris,
are relatively new to town, only arriving
in February for a short secondment. The
Pastor identified the need for this new
facility as the church is ever-growing and
the current facilities were not enough to
house everyone during church services.
Therefore Pastor John met with Ausco to
plan the concept of the new building.
The building is near completion and the
church has proposed a Grand Opening on
Sunday 30 August. Pastor John would like
to welcome the entire community along
and it will be at this event that the church
launch the official renaming to Newman
Community Baptist Church along with the
new logo, A great place for a fresh start,
which we can all relate to at some point in
our lives. There will also be a multi-cultural
evening on Saturday 29 August, again open
to the community.
