COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is the year of goals reached and exploration! The purpose of this course
is to build on skills studied in previous English classes, improving the reading,
writing, speaking, and listening skills of the student and prepare him/her for
future coursework and life, in general. The class will consist of various
individual, small group and class projects.
The student will review and practice grammar and punctuation.
The student will develop vocabulary.
The student will practice different types of writing.
The student will read and view media critically, informatively, and
for pleasure.
The student will listen to teacher lectures, readings and various
media.
The student will seek connections between literature, media, and
life.
As a contributing citizen, a literate individual: communicates skillfully
and effectively through printed, visual, auditory, and technological media in
the home, school, community and workplace; thinks analytically and
creatively about important themes, concepts, and ideas; uses the English
language arts to identify and solve problems; uses the English language arts
to understand and appreciate the commonalities and differences within
social, cultural, and linguistic communities; understands and appreciates
the aesthetic elements of oral, visual, and written texts; uses the English
language arts to develop insights about human experiences; uses the
English language arts to develop the characteristics of lifelong learners and
workers, such as curiosity, patience, flexibility, and reflection; and, connects
all knowledge from all curriculum areas to enhance understanding of the

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
Act Responsibly
Come to class prepared! There will be NO PASSES once the bell has
rung, with the exception of emergencies.
Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings.
Complete all assignments on time and to the best of your ability.
Students must speak with me prior to any school-related absence in
order to obtain any assignments or work.
Do not cheat!!
