Ms.

Jones
Principal
West Valley High School

Principal Jones:
I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to teach at your school. I
have completed my Bachelors degree program at Arizona State University, earning
a degree in Spanish (Linguistics track) and a Secondary Education certificate. I have
also completed and passed the NES exam for Spanish and the professionalism exam
from the state.
I hope to create a positive and engaging learning environment for my students. I
expect them to participate in group activities and be polite/have an open mind
when they encounter information about a culture that is different than their own.
Since we will be learning about the cultures of the countries that speak Spanish, it is
my hope that the students will relate this positivity of Spanish-speaking cultures to
when they encounter different cultural aspects outside of the classroom. I also want
students to have the confidence to be able to have an intelligent conversation in
Spanish, no matter what level they are at.
As for parents/guardians, I am aware that not all of them will be able to help out
with Spanish homework. However, by providing families with information regarding
Hispanic cultural activities around the Valley, they may be able to help the children
experience new things that they might not have otherwise been aware of. I also
plan on informing parents/guardians of any media to be used in class as to not
offend anyone.
I am very excited to start working with the faculty and with the students. High
school can be a difficult time for children go through many changes emotionally,
socially, and mentally. Yet, through the positive environment I plan to create in the
classroom, I wish to encourage these students to reach their potential academically
and be a positive role model. I would like to share my passion of the Spanish
language and the cultures that speak it with the students. Learning a second
language can provide many opportunities in the future, and I hope to inspire the
students to continue their study of Spanish past the two-year requirement because
they genuinely enjoy learning the language.

Cordially,
