General Outcome 4-9: Identify sources of light, describe the interaction of light with different materials,
and infer the pathway of a light beam.
1. Recognize that eyes can be damaged by bright lights and that one should not look at the Sun
either directly or with binoculars or telescopes.
2. Identify a wide range of sources of light, including the Sun, various forms of electric lights,
flames, and materials that glow (luminescent materials).
3. Distinguish objects that emit their own light from those that require an external source of light in
order to be seen.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Students will apply the knowledge they have learned about light to an activity worksheet and a mini
quiz to see if the students have obtained the material.
ASSESSMENTS
Observations:

Students are not looking at other students worksheets as this is to see if they know it and
helps ready themselves for the quiz.
Students are engaged in discussion.

Key Questions:

When staring at bright lights, does it damage your eyes, even if you dont feel
anything?
Can welders glass fix this problem?

Products/Performances:

Are students writing down the correct information on the worksheets?


Each blank on the worksheets/quiz are filled out to the best of their ability.

Consolidation of Learning: The quiz marks show a sufficient amount that the students were able to learn
the class material within the last few days.

We will move from these 3 outcomes and continue to learn a few more.

Colour on test part B: emitters and reflectors


After every student is finished the quiz, they are ale to spend the remainder of the class
time on catching up on any missed or uncompleted work they may have.
