- It has 2 circular faces (top & bottom)

- It has one curved side
- It is not a polyhedron as it has a curved surface

Surface Area = 2r(r+h)

Which is made up of:

Surface area of circular base = r

Surface area of curved surface = 2r
xh

If the height(h) is 2, and the radius(r) is 7, find the

surface area of the cylinder.

Surface Area = 2r(r+h)

= 2(2)(2+7)
= 2(2)(9)
= 36
113.097

Volume = rh
Just multiply the area of the base by the height of the
cylinder:

- Area of the base: r

- Height: h
- Volume = Area Height = r x h

How to remember: Volume = pizza

Imagine that you just made a pizza,

z = radius, a = height, find the volume of the
pizza.

Given that the radius is 2 and a height is 6, find

the volume.

Volume = r x h
Volume = 22/7(2)(6)
= 75.429cm

What is the volume of the cylinder with a radius

of 3 and a height of 5?

Volume= r x h
Volume =22/7(3)(5)
=141.428cm

What is a circle?
A circle is a type of line.
The distance between any points and the centre is
called the radius.
Diameter of a circle is any straight line that passes
through the center of the circle and whose endpoints
lie on the circle.

= 22/7 or 3.142

r = is the radius of the circle

2.

Calculate the area of the circle when the

radius of the circle is 7cm
Calculate the radius when the area of the
circle is 113.10cm

1.
2.

x 7 = 153.94cm
r = 113.10cm
r = 113.10/
r = 36
r = 36
r = 6cm

Find the area of sector AOB.

Solution:
Area AOB= x 450 x 2/3 rad.
= 212057.5 m

Find the area of sector

AOB

Solution:
AOB in radian
=(/180) x 120
= 2.094 rad.
Area AOB = x 4 x 2.094
= 16.755cm
