I have always wanted to move to Savannah, Georgia.
I am currently a Special
Education teacher, but I wanted to see what else was out there. Currently, the public school district in Savannah is hiring a SPED- Autism teacher this year.
The job listing
describes the roles of the teacher. In one of the bullets, it explains that the teacher must provide support to teachers and paraprofessionals that work with children with autism, communicate to the people that need to hear the accurate results of the childs abilities, function properly with personnel in the building, works with parents, and must report to the Principal and program director.
The position must also work with parents and
provide instruction and support.
In the list of responsibilities, the position requires that the person follows the policies of the school district and the department for exceptional children. They must demonstrate the knowledge of state and federal guidelines. Monitoring students with autism and providing assistance to those students is one of the biggest responsibilities of the position. On the last line item read that the position must perform other duties as they are assigned. This can be a multitude of tasks because the description is vague. In an interview situation, I would explain that my communication strengths include my ability to initiate conversation, I am approachable, and my willingness to listen to others ideas.
