IMPERATIVE SENTENCES
REMEMBER:Imperative sentences can be changed into Passive
Voice in two ways:
(1)Let+ new subject(Object in the Active Voice) +
be/not be + III form of verb
(2)According to the sense of the sentence use the
expression like-You are requested to/ordered
to/advised to/suggested to/not to + I form of
verb

(They show order, command, request,
suggestion etc.)

PASSIVE VOICE
Let the books be opened.

You are ordered to open the books.

You are ordered to shut the window.

REMEMBER:In Passive Voice certain verbs take prepositions other than by, e.g.,
annoyed at, shocked at, surprised at, offended at(behaviour), offended
with(a person), married with, pleased with(a person), pleased
at(something),disgusted with, satisfied with, known to etc.
ACTIVE VOICE
His arrival surprised me.
This box contains your
papers.
PASSIVE VOICE
I was surprised at his arrival.
Your papers are contained in
this box.
I was offended at his
behaviour.
The officer was satisfied with
my work.
I was annoyed at his remark.

REMEMBER:In sentences having two objects of the verbs, Passive Voice can be
made by changing any Object into Subject, preferably change the
first Object into Subject.
