AMS Morning Announcements

February 9th

Traffic Relief - STUDENTS ARE NOT FOLLOWING THE NEW PATH - PLEASE REMIND THEM AGAIN!
We are proposing a new walking route for students who use the path between the Deer Ridge development and
American Avenue. We ask those students to use the crosswalk at the very TOP of American Avenue ONLY to cross
the street. We have also noticed students crossing the street at various places where there isn't a crosswalk at all.
Please, use the crosswalk!!
GATE
The Wednesday after school GATE class is cancelled this week.
Track Time!
Its time to sign up for Track 2016! Please begin the process by going to Coach Dalldorfs website. All athletes must
sign up online this year using Google Forms and turn in their League Forms and Grades. Practices start February 29th
& all athletes must be signed up by February 25th to participate this year. If athletes are considering going out for the
school soccer or volleyball teams and only want to run track if they dont make these teams, then they must sign up
NOW. All athletes involved in Winter sports like Basketball must sign up NOW as well. Athletes are expected to begin
attending practices when their winter sport ends. All parents or athletes should go to the AMS school website, then
to the Dalldorfs teacher website. After completing online sign ups all athletes should also go by the student office to
pick up the League forms and Track Grade Slips as well. All paperwork can be returned in a sealed envelope to the
student office with Track on the outside or to room 33 before school.
Collecting gently used or new clothing
The 6th grade ASB/Leadership Class is collecting gently used or new clothing, canned fruit and vegetables, diapers
and wipes to donate to Shepherds Gate, a local womens shelter. Student donations will be collected from February
8th-March 4th. Please drop off your donation to your 6th grade Advisory teacher or to room 10 or 11 before school or
after school.
Helmet Laws
Students, as you all should know, the law states that you MUST wear a helmet when on a bike, skateboard, scooter
etc. Adams staff follows this law as well and it will be enforced. Please, wear your helmet!
8th Grade End of Year Activities
Please be aware that all paperwork and permission slips for the end of the year activities are due by Friday, March
4th. Dont miss out on all the fun, be sure yours is turned in on time.
Spirit Week is HERE!
Disney Theme spirit week! Today is Toy Story/Western Day, Tomorrow will be Sleeping Beauty Day/ Blue vs. Pink or
PJs, and Thursday will be Alice in Wonderland/Red Day. There is no school the Friday of Spirit Week. (2/1-2/11)
Dance Theme Revealed!
Get ready for mystery! The votes are in and this quarters dance theme is Masquerade! The dance is February 19th from
5:00-7:00pm in the gym. Tickets will be on sale Feb 16-19 before and after school at the student office window for
$6.00. Permission slips are available from your advisory teacher and the student office. Please note, for security and
identification purposes, students will not be allowed to wear a mask when entering the dance. But, we will have
masks available to purchase and decorate for $3.00! And the photo booth is back! (2/1-2/19)
CJSF Marion Huhn Award
Each CJSF Chapter may nominate two candidates for the Marion Huhn Award Scholarship. Five students from our
region will be chosen to receive a $250 scholarship. If you are a Fall 2015 CJSF member and would like to be included
in the selection of our two nominees, please go to the CJSF webpage on our Adams Middle School website, print,

complete and return the application packet no later than 2:50 pm on Monday, February 8, 2016. Our two candidates

Improv Show
Our Quarter 3 Comedy Improv show is next week! Please join us for our Alice in Wonderland themed Comedy show
next Thursday, February 11. Tickets will be on sale at the theatre beginning at 2:50 pm for $3. The show is after school
from 3:15 pm to 4:45 pm and snacks will be sold at intermission. Bring your friends and family for a fun afternoon and
Improv your Life!
Student Government
Current 6th and 7th graders: Are you interested in making a difference on campus? Do you want to have a say in the
activities we do? Do you want to be in ASB next year? If so, you should run for student government! By being elected
President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer, you will automatically be in ASB next year! If you want to run, you
MUST attend a mandatory informational meeting on Tuesday, February 9th at Lunch A or B in room 3. You cannot run
if you do not attend this meeting. Please see Mrs. Thornhill in room 3 with any questions (1/25-2/9)
Science Family Night!!
That's right Adams, we will be having a family night dedicated to Science. We will have science fair projects on display
for everyone to see, fun science demonstrations and activities for the whole family. Mark your calendars for February
18th from 5:30 to 7 to be a part of a wonderful evening of Science fun!
6th Graders Six Flags Ticket
6th Graders (only)! The deadline is approaching to complete the Six Flags Reading Log to get your free ticket. Be sure
to turn your log in to your Advisory teacher or the library BY February 11th. Tickets will be distributed the last two
weeks of school. All textbooks and library books must be turned in to receive your ticket.
Snack Hut
The snack hut is open every Thursday after school! Stop by for a snack on your way home! (all quarter)
California Young Reader Medal Book Program
Hurry! Times-a-tickin! The California Young Reader Medal Book Program ends on February 24th! Check out the
remaining books for the level(s) you are working on and take the quizzes before you run out of time! Be qualified to
join the party and get the prizes!
8th grade The Washington D.C. & New York City trip
8th grade D.C. & New York City trip
8th graders, our deadline is fast approaching for the Washington D.C. &
New York City trip. You have just 2 weeks left to decide if youd like to
travel with us this summer June 13-18th, as we tour the memorials in DC,
see the sites in NYC and even attend a Broadway Show!

Marquee Birthday Messages
AMS has an electronic marquee located by the bus loop. You now have
the opportunity to have your parents purchase a birthday message to be
displayed on the schools marquee on the day of your birthday! For more

our AMS webpage.
