This document outlines what counts as obstacles in space and the effects of encountering asteroids during ship movement and combat. It notes that asteroids, debris, and other ships can act as obstacles. It provides detailed rules for what happens if a ship moves through an asteroid, lands on an asteroid, or overlaps an asteroid during a maneuver, including losing actions and taking damage. It also covers when asteroids provide defensive bonuses or have no effect during attacks.

Asteroids
If your movement template touches an asteroid but the ship is able to
complete the maneuver without the base landing on it, this counts as moving through an asteroid and confers the following effects. - Lose your Action Step - Roll one attack die and suffer the effect (hit or crit) If your ship base touches an asteroid at the end of its move, this counts as landing on an asteroid and confers the following effects - Lose your Action step - Roll one attack die and suffer the effect (hit or crit) - Lose your Attack step If your ship base overlaps an asteroid in transit but does not touch at the end of the maneuver, there is no effect. If your ship base has landed on an asteroid, then if your next maneuver can be completed without the movement template touching the same asteroid, there is no effect on your next move. If your ship base has landed on an asteroid, then if your next maneuver cannot be completed without the movement template couching the same asteroid, suffer the effect of passing through it. If the exposed portion of the asteroid blocks the shortest attack path from your opponent, you gain +1 defense die. If the shortest attack path from your opponent does not pass through an exposed asteroid portion, there is no effect. You can not boost or barrel roll through or of an obstacle if the movement template would overlap the asteroid. Your ship base is allowed to pass over it in transit. You can boost or barrel roll through or of an obstacle only if the movement template does not overlap, and if the ship base is clear at the end of the action.
