    family and friends. It’s truly a national holiday. Everyone in
    the United States celebrates it. Thanksgiving is about giving
    thanks and showing gratitude with family and friends while
    eating delicious food.

    ❖ It’s celebrated in the US and Canada.

    ❖ In the US, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth thursday in


    November.
    History of Thanksgiving

    ❖ Thanksgiving originates when some of the first Europeans visited the United
    States. When they came to the United States, they experienced a lot of
    hardship. They managed to survive and gave thanks for that.

    ❖ However, the holiday is NOT about being friends with Native Americans. The
    first Europeans actually treated local Native Americans very badly.

    ❖ Originally, Thanksgiving was about giving thanks to God for a good life. It
    was mostly a religious holiday.
