Although it may be a company formality, when the time comes to leave your job, it's
recommended you write a direct and respectful resignation letter. There's no need to compromise
your professionalism, even if your reasons for leaving are due to less than desirable
circumstances. You may run from an organization screaming on the inside but projecting an air
of cool composure on the outside. Hopefully you'll find exactly the right sample resignation
letter, or at least an idea, to fit your circumstances in the following examples. Once you have
your letter written, don't forget to date and sign your document.

Conclusion
A resignation letter is just one part of the departure process. Before you make your
announcement, start to put all your affairs in order at work. Afterward, maintain your
professionalism and do your best work right up until the very end. The company won't remember
your letter as much as they'll remember your attitude.

Hello,
This is to inform you that I have accepted a position with <new company name>.
I want to express my gratitude for a rewarding professional association during my employment with
<current company name>.
This decision was not an easy one and involved many hours of thoughtful consideration, particularly
with respect to my own plans for my future. I am confident, however, that this new position represents
a positive move toward fulfilling my career goals.
My main thoughts now are to work as hard as possible to wrap up my projects here and turn over my
responsibilities as smoothly as possible. However, I would like to join <new company name> as soon as
possible. Therefore, if convenient, I would like to request that you waive my termination notice.
Sincerely,
Jim Karter
