We are the World

Last Saturday witnessed the anticipated ‘Winter Fest’ hosted by The Cambridge
School. Held at Vidya Mandir from 5.00pm to 8.00pm, the evening brought with it
‘The coming together of the World’, the theme for this year’s fest.
It was an enchanting evening as the show started off with the Primary section’s
enactment of ‘Birds of a feather’ followed by Junior school’s ‘Red Africa’ and
Middle School’s ‘Treasure Hunt’. The children had done an admirable job in these
plays, displaying the various cultures and instilling into the audience the moral
values of such ethnicity.
The high school presentation consisted of various performances that truly
showed the unity and harmony of diverse traditions. The Indian group performed
a recital on Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Bharot Tirtho’ as a tribute to Rabindranath
Tagore’s forthcoming 150th birth anniversary. Also dancers ranging from
Bharatanatyam , Kathak to Contemporary danced to the rhythm of the Rabindra
Sangeet.
Followed by the Indian group, The Korean, Thai and the Western group dominated
the stage executing both their traditional and modern dance styles with beauty
and exuberance.
The A levels paraded astonishing heights of flair as they executed routines
complemented by the latest beats while others sang accompanied by their
instruments.
After such an awe-inspiring show Mrs. Nonda Chaterjee, the principal of The
Cambridge School introduced the Chief Guest for the evening, Professor Krishna
Bose. As a leading contemporary writer, educationist and a parliamentarian
Professor Krishna Bose shared with us some of her past memories and taught us
the importance of being a good individual. After her short speech she was
pleased to give away prizes to various students for their efforts throughout the
year.
With that the evening drew to an end but the big smiles on everyone’s faces
seemed far from doing so.
