On 10th July 2023, SIIB came alive with a vibrant celebration on 31st Foundation Day. The
entire institution, including students, faculty, and staff, gathered to commemorate this
significant milestone. The event commenced with Director Dr. Asmita Chitnis extending her
warm greetings, setting the stage for an unforgettable day. Following the lighting of the
lamp, Dr. Chitnis gracefully proceeded to felicitate the esteemed guests. Among them was
Pandit Arvind Kumar Azad, a renowned musician, tabla player, and recipient of the "Ratna of
Bihar" for his exceptional contributions to Indian classical music. Pandit Arvind Ji stepped
onto the stage, captivating everyone with his heartfelt and endearing speech, speaking
about his connection with SIIB, and then offering his best wishes to the students.
Adding to the grace and warmth of the event, Mrs. Ami Parekh took the stage to greet the
audience. She expressed her gratitude to Director Ma'am and Panditji for the opportunity to
be part of the celebration, extending a warm welcome to the students. With the formalities
complete, it was time for the much-anticipated performances to begin. The first to grace the
stage were the incredibly talented Tabla alankars Shri Ravi Guru and Shri Saurav Gulati.
Accompanied by Shri Sandeepan Mukherjee on the harmonium, their tabla jugalbandi in the
rhythmic taal teen taal was nothing short of awe-inspiring. The audience was captivated,
their applause spontaneously erupting even mid-performance.
Next, the stage welcomed Srimati Suhana Banerjee, a rising star from a music-rich heritage,
and Guru Arvind Kumar Azad. Together, they presented a mesmerizing fusion of pure Indian
classical music. Suhana Ma'am not only showcased her remarkable sitar skills but also
shared insights into the instrument's components and its rich history. The performance was
enchanting, leaving the audience spellbound. To conclude their act, Suhana Ma'am shared a
profound philosophical quote, leaving everyone with a sense of introspection.
The evening reached its climax with the arrival of the Trio Craaft, consisting of Mr. Rohit
Kulkarni on the Keytar (a combination of keyboard and guitar), Mr. Nitin Satva on the
Djembe and Cajon, and Mr. Amit Vennu on the flute. Their fusion of classical music was an
extraordinary blend of their original compositions, adding a modern twist to traditional
melodies. The stunning harmonies carried the audience away into a world of musical
delight. The Trio Craaft concluded their performance with a burst of energy, captivating the
crowd with a medley of popular Bollywood numbers.
