Crucial Doubleheader: Tonights doubleheader between the Will County CrackerJacks and the DeKalb County Liners marks the fifth and sixth meetings between the two teams this season. The CrackerJacks are 1-3 against DeKalb this season but they have played all four games against the Liners in Sycamore. If Will County can grab both games from DeKalb tonight, they will reclaim sole possession of first place in the MCL South. The CrackerJacks enter the night in a first-place tie with the Northwest Indiana Oilmen (21-11), who beat the Chicago Zephyrs yesterday courtesy of a walk-off home run. Cardiac Jacks: Trailing 5-3 to the Southland Vikings with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning yesterday, Vern Hasty called on Shaun McGraw to pinch hit with the tying run on second base. McGraw delivered, crushing a double to straightaway center field. The CrackerJacks would defeat the Vikings in the 10th, thanks to a suicide squeeze that was perfectly executed by Daniel Nevares. Jake Thomas scored the winning run. Stars Shining: Will Countys three All-Star pitchers have been simply overpowering throughout the season and during the stretch run. Yesterday, Jack Rogalla threw seven innings and allowed just one earned run. Ben Gullo allowed just five hits over 9.2 innings two nights before. Rogalla and Gullo check in with 2.05 and 2.06 earned run averages, respectively, while the third All-Star pitcher Matt Borens has a 2.16 ERA. Leader of the Pack: Mitch Elliott collected another three hits for the CrackerJacks in yesterdays win over the Vikings. His 0.398 batting average leads all MCL hitters. DuPages Joey White is second (0.383).
