UNITS
Dimensions are given in millimeters.
Inch dimensions shown below the millimeter conform to ISO 4412-1.
LETTER SYMBOLS

MOUNTING SURFACE IDENTIFICATION CODING
The following prefixes relate to the mounting surface valve type:
C = is the non-return (check) valve
D = is the directional control valve
FB = is the cam-actuated two-stage compensated flow control valve
F, 2F, 3F = are the compensated flow control valves
P = is the pressure control valve (other than the relief valve),
sequence valve, throttle valve and non-return (check) valve.
POC = is the pilot operated valves
R, RP, RV= are the pressure relief valves
TOLERANCES
The following tolerances shall apply, unless otherwise specified in table.
Surface roughness (R
T
)
NOTE: See ISO 4287 and ISO 4288 for further surface roughness tolerances.
Surface Flatness:
0.01 mm over a distance of 100 mm
(.0004 inch over a distance of 4
inches)
NOTE: See ANSI/Y14.5M for further
surface flatness tolerances

NFPA/T3.5.1 R2-2002
Mounting Surface Description
1) The minimum thread depth is 1.5 times the fastener diameter. The recommended full thread depth is 2D
+ 6 mm to facilitate interchangeability of valves and to reduce the number of fixing screw lengths. The
minimum recommended engagement of mounting fastener thread for ferrous mounting is 1.25 times the
fastener diameter. Coarse pitch metric fasteners are standard for this mounting surface.
2) The dimensions specifying the area within the dashed lines are the minimum dimensions for the
mounting surface. The corners of the rectangle may have a radius smaller than or equal to the thread
diameter of the mounting fastener.
Along each axis the mounting fastener holes are at equal distance to the mounting surface edges.
3) This dimension gives the minimum spacing distance between the valve and adjacent obstructions, for
example, another valve or a wall. This dimension is therefore, the minimum distance from centerline to
centerline of two similar mounting surfaces placed on a manifold block. The mounting fastener holes are
at equal distances to this dimension.
The valve manufacturer's attention is drawn to the fact that no part of the width of the complete valve
assembly shall exceed this dimension.
4) Blind hole in the mounting surface to accommodate the locating pin on the valve. The minimum depth is
4/16.
NOTE: The supplier shall stipulate the maximum working pressure for subplates and manifold blocks.
MOUNTING FASTENER HOLES AND TOLERANCES
Mounting surface dimensions in this standard are based on metric coarse series fasteners and normal
clearance hole sizes, per SO 273, for those fasteners.
Earlier editions of this standard provided for UNC inch series fasteners. Use of such fasteners with the
dimensions in this new edition will require particular attention by valve suppliers to assure integrity of
the port seals. See annex B for illustrations.
IDENTIFICATION STATEMENT
Use the following statement in test reports, catalogs and sales literature when electing to comply with this
standard:
"Hydraulic valve mounting surface dimensions conform to NFPA/T3.5.1 R2-200x, Hydraulic fluid power -
