The newly released Electronic
Violence and Vandalism Report
for the 2012 to 2013 school year for
the Moorestown public school dis-
trict shows the total number of
incidents increased from the pre-
vious year, with a total of 19 cases
for the entire school district.
For the 2012 to 2013 school year,
a total of 13 cases were reported
for Moorestown High School,
composed of four cases of vio-
lence, two cases of weapons and
seven cases of substance abuse.
Moorestown Upper Elementary
School also reported six cases for
the 2012 to 2013 school year, with
one case of violence, two cases of
vandalism and three cases of
weapons.
The numbers tend to be all
over the place, and the past two
years have been average or lower
than usual, acting superintend-
ent for the Moorestown public
school district Lynn Shugars
said.
The prior year, 2011 to 2012, the
district reported a total of 11 inci-
dents, with three cases of vio-
lence and one of weapons for the
William Allen Middle School and
one case of violence, one case of
vandalism, four cases of sub-
stance abuse and one case of
weapon for the high school.
Past year totals included 22
cases for 2010 to 2011, 19 cases for
2009 to 2010 and 21 cases for 2008
to 2009.
While I cant speak to a specif-
ic violence and vandalism pro-
gram, we have been focusing on
HIB (Humiliation, Intimidation
and Bullying), which I think in-
herently could be curtailing some
of these numbers the past two
years, Shugars said.
The Electronic Violence and
Vandalism Report is required for
every district in New Jersey in
October as pursuant to N.J.S.A.
18A:17-16 and N.J.A.C. 6A:16-5.3.

V
oting is one of the inalienable
rights that our forefathers
fought so fervently for so
many years ago. Many would say that
voting is one of the most important in-
alienable rights that we have as Amer-
icans, if not the most important in-
alienable right.
Colonial Americans fought for inde-
pendence in the 1700s based on the ral-
lying cry of no taxation without rep-
resentation, and they wanted the
right to choose their own representa-
tion.
Over the following 200 years, three
major pieces of legislation extended
or ensured voting rights:
The Fifteenth Amendment to the
Constitution gave voting rights to non-
white males;
The Nineteenth Amendment gave
women the right to vote;
And The Voting Rights Act of 1965
prevented discrimination in voting.
A lot of time and effort was spent,
and blood was shed, to give all citizens
of the United States over the age of 18
the right to vote.
And now, it is up to you to take ad-
vantage of that right at the polls for
the General Election next Tuesday,
Nov. 5.
Up for election are the states gover-
nor a race between Republican in-
cumbent Chris Christie and Democrat
Barbara Buono the states lieutenant
governor a race between Republican
Kim Guadagno and Democrat Milly
Silva as well as local positions.
In this weeks Sun, you will find in-
formation on exactly what you are vot-
ing for, when polls are open and details
on every polling location in town.
If you have further questions about
the election, you can always find infor-
mation on the countys website or call
your local clerk.
Whatever your political slant or
whomever you may be voting for, just
make sure you make your way to the
polls next Tuesday. Many people be-
fore us fought for your inalienable
right to do so.

Moorestown Business Association presi-
dent and producing artistic director for the
Moorestown Theater Company Mark Mor-

coming shows will perform a number from
each production with Disneys The Jungle
Book up first, since opening night for the
show is scheduled for Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at

I got to get them up first, so they can get

In addition, members from the
Moorestown Theater Company will also
perform one or two numbers from Thor-
oughly Modern Millie, which will open on
Nov. 15 at 7 p.m., and Willy Wonka Jr.,
which opens on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. All show-
ings of both productions will be held at
Upper Elementary School.
Performances by the Moorestown The-
ater Company are expected to begin at ap-
proximately 7 p.m. in front of the First
Baptist Church of Moorestown.
To promote ongoing park efforts on the
corner of Main and High streets, the
Friends of Percheron Park will also be
hosting horse drawn carriage rides, pulled
by Percheron horses.

businesses in the Moorestown area.
Cooper said she will be at the table for
the Moorestown Business Association dur-
ing Candlelight Night, handing out glow
sticks to children.
I have 500 strings to put through,
Cooper said in reference to preparing her
handouts.
Sitting at the entrance of the First Bap-
tist Church of Moorestown will be the
Moorestown Business Association table.
Cooper explained that with the table out-
side, she could help direct people into the
church, which will house the nonprofit ta-
bles this year.
Cooper explained that although the non-
profits tables were located in the
Moorestown Community House last year,
the venue had booked a wedding on Nov. 1,
forcing the Moorestown Business Associa-
tion to find an alternative location.
Organizations at the First Baptist
Church include The Evergreens, the
Moorestown Improvement Association
and the Moorestown Friends School.

In addition, Cooper also ex-
plained that in anticipation of a

You dont want traffic when

Cooper said.

BAYADA Home Health Care
Founder and President Mark Ba-
iada and his wife Ann received
the Richard J. Hughes Humani-
tarian Award from Catholic Char-
ities, Diocese of Trenton for their
dedication to serving the commu-
nitys poor and vulnerable. They
received the honor on the organi-
zations centennial anniversary
at an annual awards dinner, held
on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Hyatt
Regency Princeton.
The Baiadas have been enthu-
siastic supporters of Catholic
Charities, Diocese of Trenton for
more than a decade. One of the
catalysts for their support was a
relative of Mark Baiadas who
was challenged with mental
health issues and helped by
Catholic Charities counselors.
According to Baiada, Catholic
Charities rescued my brother and
enabled him to stabilize and lead
a better life. That was a defining
moment for me. By supporting
Catholic Charities, Ive been
blessed with the opportunity to
see many others like him receive
the help they need to get a fresh
start on life.
As the founder and president of
BAYADA, Baiadas vision is to
help millions of people worldwide
to experience a better quality of
life in the comfort of their own
homes. Like Catholic Charities,
Mark Baiada would like to create
a lasting legacy, led by like-mind-
ed individuals who are passionate
about helping others.
Ann Baiada shares her hus-
bands enthusiasm for Catholic
Charities and credits her parents
for instilling in her a strong sense
of community and service to oth-
ers. If there was ever a need in
our community or church, my
siblings and I were there along-
side our mother to help. By their
example, my parents taught me
that we need to give and be of
service in order to make a differ-
ence.
Especially close to her heart is
Catholic Charities Providence
House. Its a good feeling to
know that so many women and
children who escaped a violent
environment have someplace
where they can feel safe at night,
she said. Providence House staff
truly transforms lives and pro-
vide very special and meaningful
opportunities for those who
would otherwise slip through so-
cietys cracks.
Founded in 1975 by J. Mark Ba-
iada, BAYADA Home Health Care
provides nursing, rehabilitative,
therapeutic, hospice, and assis-
tive care services to children,
adults, and seniors in the comfort
of their homes. Headquartered in
suburban Philadelphia, BAYADA
employs more than 18,000 nurses,
home health aides, therapists,
medical social workers, and other
home health care professionals
who serve their communities in
more than 22 states from more
than 270 offices. For more infor-
mation, visit www.bayada.com.

22 THE MOORESTOWN SUN OCTOBER 30NOVEMBER 5, 2013
T
he existing Moorestown Environmental Resource In-
ventory (ERI) was developed in 1989 (hand written
with overlay maps) by a small group of devoted STEM
members. Significant changes have occurred in the Township
since then and an up-
dated version was badly
needed. STEM again
stepped up to provide
the match to a funding
grant from ANJEC and
the Delaware Valley Re-
gional Planning Com-
mission (DVRPC) was
contracted to update the
document. Amy Miller
of DVRPC worked
closely with the
Moorestown Environ-
mental Advisory Com-
mittee and Tom Ford
(Moorestown Director Community Development) to provide
the updated book and maps. The Township Director of Com-
munity Development, Planning Board, Open Space Commit-
tee and Environmental Advisory Committee are among the
individuals, boards, committees and organizations that de-
pend on the information contained in this document for their
decisions making and planning. It is a key component of the
Townships Master Plan.
This publication documents the natural and community re-
sources of Moorestown Township, Burlington County, New
Jersey. The natural resource information includes descrip-
tions, tables, and maps of: land use; soils; drinking water,
aquifers, and wells; surface waters, including watersheds,
streams, lakes, wetlands,
and floodplains; impacts
on water resources and
surface water quality;
impervious coverage;
vegetation, including
wetlands, forests, and
grasslands; animal com-
munities; threatened
and endangered species;
Natural Heritage Priority
Sites; Landscape Project
Priority Habitats; and
known contaminated
sites. Community re-
sources that are briefly
described include population, transportation, township util-
ities and services, historic sites and buildings, and protected
open space.A short history of the community is also included.
A copy can be found in the Moorestown Township Library
and a digital copy is maintained by the DVRPC and is avail-
able through their website (www.dvrpc.org).You can also get
a link to it on the Township Website by going to Boards and
Committees and then under Environmental Advisory Com-
mittee going to latest news.
Chet Dawson, Amy Miller (of DVRPC ) and Barb Rich (Moorestown
Environmental Advisory Committee) receiving the finished document.
Moorestown Friends School
senior Ciani Green, of Mount

2 percent. As an Outstanding

purchase this home that was built in 1890 for the
South Amboy Railroad. The craftsmanship of the
stained glass and woodwork in the home, in addition

modern construction. The beauty of the home
continues on the exterior with grounds that have been
cared for by a master gardener, an ornate slate roof,
the exterior wood under the eaves and the brick work
on the chimney. This one of a kind, historic
