1. Introduction
This document is a product description for the SYS3000 controller and describes the electrical and mechanical specifications as well as the operation instruction. The SYS3000 is the control unit to monitor the modular inverter system based on RDI and DCI inverters and STM65 or STM65 OR STM150 static switch unit. The figure 1 presents the system architecture.

SYS3000 (Inverter supervisor) provides to the user the following functions:

Display inverter module and system status, parameters such as AC and DC measurements. Allow the possibility to separate the DC input to feed the inverter from different DC input batteries while having their AC output voltage connected in parallel Allow the user to program the input DC parameter stopping and restart voltage, to program the number of redundant module in the system, the overload capability,. Monitor inverter, static switch, load output breaker, fuse with local and remote alarm signalling. Consult all events which are stored in a log file where all different events are stored with a time and date . Possibility to communicate through serial RS232 or RS485 interface with local PC or through modem link from remote site. By using our PSM 2000 software. Configure different alarm level voltage, event based on user needs

The supervision philosophy is introduced in figure 1 from the top level (system) to the bottom level (inverter module). SYS3000 control unit is a monitoring unit placed mounted on the front door of the inverter system. The SYS3000 controller is supplied in through connector X1. Input voltage range must be 18-150VDC (SELV in the range 18..60Vdc). UL appoved 18 to 60VDC

2.2. Display.
The controller has 2 LCD displays. One for measurements and one for system status display. One LCD is a 4 lines x 20 characters with a backlight and the second is a 2 lines x 16 characters with backlight. To ensure a long life, the backlight automatically de-activated if no key is pressed during more than 15 minutes The display contrast can be modified in the menu 5.9.

2.3. The keyboard.

The keyboard of the controller has 16 keys having the following functions: As descrive in section 1 Introduction SYS3000 allows: a. Display and consult information we will call Information mode b. Modify some parameter and configuration of the invetrer system we will call Modification Mode Note: Please note that in all screen displayed some of them are Information mode and other are Modification mode. The keys have a different function depending in which mode you are

Note : Your will pass from Information mode to Modification mode when you want to modify a value of the system. See exemple below where we will modify the buzzer duration from 1 min to 5 min

The key

is only active in modification mode

The key allows to the user to escape out the menu in modification mode without saving the screen modifications. In information mode : pressing a numerical key move to the corresponding menu on the same level. In modidification mode: to enter numerical values press the apposite numerical keys.

2.5. The inputs.

The controller gives the user 8 digital inputs. The user must introduce information through potential free contacts. No voltage or current source can be connected. The function is activated when the 2 terminals concerned are short-circuited (the external free potential contact is closed).

2.6. The outputs FORM C Relay Contact

MAJOR and MINOR alarm relays give the information when they are de-activated: it means the relay coil becomes without potential when the alarm happens. 2 other free relays are available (AUX1 and AUX2): function of these relays can be defined in the Extended Configuration menu.

2.7. The buzzer.

An acoustic signal is activated in 4 states: If there is an MAJOR alarm (permanent beep). If there is a not MINOR alarm (intermittent beep). If a key is pressed. In the 2 first cases (MAJOR or MINOR activated), the buzzer is activated during the time set in the configuration menu 8.1. If the user introduce a time = 0, the sound signal will not be activated if an alarm occurs. When the sound is present it is automatically stopped when any key is pressed by the user.

2.8. The calendar.

The controller uses a RTC circuit (Real Time Clock) with a lithium battery having a minimum autonomy of 10 years following the manufacturers indication. Time and date can be set through menu 3.4 and menu 3.5. If battery is flat, please send back the supervisor to factory.

2.9. The watchdog.

A special hardware circuit is built in the controller to detect if the main function of the controller, which is to control the system, is correctly running. The control occurs at each AC cycle (20ms for 50Hz module). If the reading of information dont occur during 5 cycles the watchdog circuit is disactivated. If this event happens the LED UA lights on and the UA relays is disactivated. The watchdog circuit is externally built to the micro-controller in order to increase the reliability of supervision.

2.10 Autoconfiguration
When a new module is installed or removed in the system press simultaneously the key 7 and SYS 3000 will ask Autoconfigure press to confirm

will automaticaly force SYS3000 to check and adapt the system configuration.

2.11. The asynchronous port.

Remote control of the SYS3000 can be done with the PC software PSM2000 through a modem or directly connected to the SYS3000 through his serial port. 2 asynchronous ports are available for the user. COM1: Following the selected function chosen in the configuration menu 9.8., the communication will occur in RS232 or RS485 serial mode. Both mode are accessible on the same serial RJ45 connector X6. COM2: Communication is established in RS232 mode through RJ45 connector X7 (located at the side) or DB9 connector (located on the front panel). Port COM2 can only be used once either from back side or from SYS3000 front plate. There is no galvanic insulation present on serial port (SYS3000 side). 2.12 SNMP-TCP/IP Agent

SNMP monitoring agent is an optional monitoring system very usefull when many system has to be monitored from one remote control center. Basic configuration for CE+T inverter system monitored through SNMP agent is describe below :

3. Definitions.
3.1. System.
A system is defined as all modules connected on the same digital bus. The maximum number of modules a user can connect on the same digital bus is 16. The address of the first module is 1. The second will have the address 216 SYS3000 Modules STM65 OR STM150 (Static switch) Address 19 116 0

3.2 Groups.
As group it is intended the modules belong to the same grouping. The grouping criteria can be one physical cabinet or a grouping of modules having a common DC source. The maximum configurable groups are 4. The modules address in each group must be increased and follow the group order. For instance, if the system has 3 groups configured with 4 modules/group, the module address will be: module address Group 1 1...4 Group 2 5...8 Group 3 9...12

3.3. Configured module.

One module is configured to indicate it belongs to the system. Automatically the controller puts this module in the list it will scan.

3.4. Monitored module.

Each monitored module is configured. If the user de-monitores a module, the SYS3000 controller will continue to scan it, but an alarm is not generated if a fault happens in this specific module. The interest in such situation appears when a module has provisory to be taken off the system. One example of when a module might be de-monitored is when it has been provisioned to remove the module from the system. Please refer to menu 6 to monitor or de-monitor a module. If one module is de-monitored, the LED MANUAL MODE is active.

3.5. Installed power.

The monitored power of a system is the addition of each nominal power (in kVA) of the installed modules. 3.6. Special modes.

The following options are available if the user wants to modify the automatic supervision process of the SYS3000 controller.
3.6.1. The AS mode (Alarm Stop).

If an alarm is generated from the SYS3000, it de-activates the corresponding relay (relays are in the alarm state when de-energised). An exception to this rule is the AS mode (Alarm Stop) which can be activated in the menu 3.1. When the AS mode is activated alarms relays are always activated also if an alarm appears. This option can be useful when the user wants to manipulate the system without to generate a general alarm towards the remote station.
3.6.2. De- monitoring of Modules.

When a module is in failure state, the SYS3000 controller generates a MAJOR or MINOR alarm in relation with the configured redundancy level set in the basic configuration menu. If the module is de-monitored, the controller doesnt take it into account in the supervision process.
3.6.3. The abbreviations.

To have a standard language the 2 kinds of alarm are represented with the following abbreviation: UA NUA Major Alarm Minor Alarm or Urgent Alarm or Non Urgent Alarm

Abbreviations are also used to define other special modes: AS (Alarm Stop) MAN (Manual Mode) If there is an alarm, it will be not signalled with the corresponding relays. The system stands in manual mode.

The module status is signalled using 2 letters, that allows to display the status off all inverters with only one screen: NC NS CK OK CL MO CP (Not Configured) (Not Installed) (Check Procedure) (OK) (Current Limit) (Manually OFF) (Communication Problem) Module not configured Module not monitored Starting of the module in progress. Module is full operational Current limitation is working. Module manually stopped. Data were sent from the module but controller didnt valid them. The module dont transmit data on the DCI bus. Module failure.

4. SYS3000 user interface

4.1. Basic configuration.
Basic configuration with a special menu named Extended Configuration menu. This menu, for security reasons, is protected through an access code. The basic configuration parameters are: Configuration of the modules by group. The operatin mode of the static switch (ON LINE-OFF LINE). The allocation of the 8 digital inputs. The use of the auxiliary relays AUX1 and AUX2. The types of alarm (No alarm, Minor, Major). Redundancy of the modules.

The access to this menu must be reserved to responsible people because the introduced data in this menu govern the desirable supervision through the SYS3000 controller.

4.2. Screen control

In normal mode, the screen refreshment occurs each second. After any key is pressed, the refreshment is without delay. If no key is pressed during a time of 15 minutes (about), the controller returns to the headline menu. Two exceptions with this rule concern the alarm test menu (menu 3.7) and the digital inputs test menu (menu 3.8). In these 2 last cases, the delay is reduced to 3 minutes. Effectively, the activation of these 2 last menus is an abnormal situation in relation with the digital inputs and outputs (relays) management.

4.3. The menus

Each menu shows a typical information. Symbol in Red Bold between display menu is the key you have to press to move from one menu to the other. Note: Please note that in all screen displayed some of them are Information mode and other are Modification mode. 4.5 Alarms list.

This section present each alarm message with definition Group X stopped Group X started Vin too low (YYYY V) MAJOR Vin OK (ZZZZ V)

The inverters group X is stopped after a min or max Dc voltage (see parameters Udc min stop and Udc min ok set in the menu 5.3.1.). The data YYYY is the voltage present when the modules of this group are really stopped. The data ZZZZ is the voltage present when the modules are restarted again. Note: If the stopping threshold set in the menu 5.3.1. is lower than the intrinsic protection threshold set in the module, the modules will stop from this second threshold. Note :If the restart threshold set in the menu 5.3.1.is lower than the intrinsic restart threshold of the module, the module will restart from this second threshold. The output power of the modules in the system is more than Pout which is set in the menu 5.3.3. The value XXXX is the power of the modules in the system, which generates the alarm.The value YYYY is the output power of the modules in the system, which generates the end of the alarm. Note: The threshold, which cancels the alarm, is fixed and is equal to 90% of Pout max set in the menu 5.3.3. For instance, if the percentage set in the menu 5.3.3. is 80% and if the system installed power is equal to 10.0 kVA, the threshold which start the alarm is Pout max = 8.0 kVA. The alarm disappears when the output power of the system will be less than 90% of 8.0 kVA, that means 7.2 kVA. Module manually stopped All modules are started At least one module is manually stopped. This alarm is 10 seconds delayed. Vout out of range (XXX V) Vout OK (YYY V) The output voltage of the inverters in the system is out of range (see parameter in the menu 5.2.).The value XXX is the voltage which starts the alarm. 4.6. Messages list in the historic.

A maximum of 100 events can be stored in the non-volatile memory of the SYS3000 controller. The list of different events naturally includes the previous alarms list. Starting SYS3000 Version X.XX

4.7. The asynchronous port protection.

The standard communication protocol used in the SYS3000 controller is the J-Bus. Through the asynchronous communication port it is possible to have actions on the system: to erase the historic, on/off of the modules, to change the time (RTC)... To protect the access against non authorised staff, three protection barriers (menu 9.5) are present in the SYS3000 controller: Access code : Each action must be preceded with the sending of the correct code through the serial port. The validity duration of the access code is about 1 minute. Call back: This means the call back from the controller to the phone number sent by the sender. This phone number will be stored in the controller. Access code + Call back This means the first two protection together. When the call back is executed, the access code remains required to operate an action with the SYS3000 controller.

5.Installation and commissioning and Maintenance

Caution: Insure that the external breaker is maximum 2A nominal and that its breaking capacity is in relation with the maximum fault current of the batteries bank installed. The scope of this documents is to provide a general guide for the contractor who has to install and commission an inverter system. Please refer the the operation manual for more details.

The purpose of this section is to give the possibility to the user to modify the configuration of the system such has: 1.
