I. THE VISION OF OUR MINISTRY What was the early Christian church like? SMALL GROUPS OF PEOPLE MET IN HOUSES TO SHARE THE GOSPEL AND TALK ABOUT WHAT THEY LEARNED WITH FRIENDS Christians didnt meet in a church building until the 16OOS. Small intimate meetings foster a feeling of BELONGING and COMFORT. Who does a cell start with? LEADER AND CO-LEADER WHO INVITE A GROUP OF PEOPLE THEY KNOW TO GET TOGETHER ONCE A WEEK TO DISCUSS RELEVANT LIFE ISSUES What do the leaders ask everyone to do for the next meeting? BRING THEIR FRIENDS When a cell group reaches a STEADY attendance of 15 it multiplies into 2 groups. Traditional youth groups and churches are PROGRAM- and BUILDING- centered. Cell groups are PEOPLE- and COMMUNITY- centered.
III. QUALIFICATIONS FOR LEADERSHIP Youth cannot grow without HELPING OTHERS GROW. The life-long process of growing is called SANTIFICATION. Put a check by the qualifications you meet: ?? II. TYPES OF INDIVIDUALS List ways you could deal with each of the following types of individuals. THE TALKER DIRECT QUESTIONS TO OTHER PEOPLE, AVOID EYE CONTACT, TALK TO PERSON AFTER THE MEETING THE QUIET PERSON BE SENSITIVE AND DONT FORCE THEM TO TALK, DIRECT A FEW QUESTIONS TO THEM THE BIBLE BASHER SPEAK TO THEM AT THE END, ASK THEM NOT TO PUSH THE BIBLE AND GOD AT PEOPLE BUT TO SHARE IT IN A CARING, FRIENDLY WAY THE NEW AGER ASK THEM TO STATE WHAT THEY BELIEVE AND WHY, DONT TELL THEM THEY ARE TOTALLY WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING, SHOW RESPECT THE JEWISH ASK THEM WHAT THEY BELIEVE AND WHY, SHOW RESPECT THE ATHEIST ASK THEM WHAT THEY BELIEVE AND WHY, SHOW RESPECT THE ULTRA-NEGATIVE SHOW THEM THAT GOOD CAN BE FOUND IN EVEN THE WORST SITUATIONS THE SPACED OUT ASK THEM QUESTIONS THAT REQUIRE SOME THOUGHT, BUT ARENT TOO DEEP THE PERSON WHO NEEDS TOO MUCH ATTENTION LET THEM KNOW THEY ARE LOVED, REMIND THEM THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE GROUP WHO NEED ATTENTION TOO THE PERSON WHO TALKS ABOUT THEIR PROBLEMS TOO MUCH DEVELOP PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH PERSON, ENCOURAGE THEM TO LISTEN TO OTHER PEOPLE AND HELP THEM WITH THEIR PROBLEMS ANYONE DOING DRUGS NEVER ALLOW SOMEONE TO STAY IF THEY ARE HIGH, CONTACT ZONE SERVANT IMMEDIATELY SOMEONE WHO IS SUICIDAL CONTACT ZONE SERVANT IMMEDIATELY! SOMEONE WHO IS A RUNAWAY (OR MIGHT BE) CALL ZONE SERVANT RIGHT AWAY, KEEP THEM AT THE MEETING IF POSSIBLE
