I. THE VISION OF OUR MINISTRY What was the early Christian church like? SMALL GROUPS OF PEOPLE MET IN HOUSES TO SHARE THE GOSPEL AND TALK ABOUT WHAT THEY LEARNED WITH FRIENDS Christians didnt meet in a church building until the 16OOS. Small intimate meetings foster a feeling of BELONGING and COMFORT. Who does a cell start with? LEADER AND CO-LEADER WHO INVITE A GROUP OF PEOPLE THEY KNOW TO GET TOGETHER ONCE A WEEK TO DISCUSS RELEVANT LIFE ISSUES What do the leaders ask everyone to do for the next meeting? BRING THEIR FRIENDS When a cell group reaches a STEADY attendance of 15 it multiplies into 2 groups. Traditional youth groups and churches are PROGRAM- and BUILDING- centered. Cell groups are PEOPLE- and COMMUNITY- centered.

III. QUALIFICATIONS FOR LEADERSHIP Youth cannot grow without HELPING OTHERS GROW. The life-long process of growing is called SANTIFICATION. Put a check by the qualifications you meet: ?? Have a real and stable relationship with Jesus Christ ?? Accept being discipled ?? Attend a church regularly ?? Be a team player ?? Have a call to be involved in some ministry work ?? Have attended a cell group and witnessed a division

IV. COMMITMENT List four things expected from a leader. PACE THEMSELVES, NOT ON A SPIRITUAL ROLLER COASTER, GROUNDED IN THE WORD, NOT BELIEVE IN QUESTIONABLE DOCTRINE. Put a check by the qualifications you struggle with: ?? Be beyond reproach ?? Be temperate ?? Be self-controlled ?? Be respectable ?? Be able to teach and be taught ?? Be hospitable ?? Not drink, smoke, or do any other drugs ?? Not be greedy ?? Have a proper relationship with family ?? Not just recently accepted Christ ?? Have a good reputation with outsiders V. PRAYER What is the most important aspect of ministry? PRAYER With poor prayer comes POOR RESULTS.

CIRCLE OF FRIENDS, PEOPLE WHO AFFECT YOU, PEOPLE YOU COME INTO CONTACT WITH AT LEAST A HALF AN HOUR A WEEK, ETC The oikos method works so well because it takes advantage of the NATURAL desire for teens to be with their FRIENDS. II. ACCOUNTABILITY To have good leadership you must have a good method of ACCOUNTABILITY. It is better to be HONEST than perfect. In a nutshell, what is the duty of the cell leader? MAKE SURE THE CELL GROUP RUNS SMOOTHLY TO THE BEST OF HIS/HER ABILITY, MAKE SURE EVERYTHING GETS DONE The most important task a leader must remember is to MAKE A FRIEND, BE A FRIEND, BRING A FRIEND TO CHRIST. What is the duty of the co-leader? ASSIST THE LEADER, LEAD PARTS OF THE MEETING, PROVIDE SUPPORT, LEAD GROUP IF LEADER IS ABSENT What is the job of the Zone Servant? I. CONTENTS OF A CELL What is a cell group? STUDENT-LED SMALL GROUP OF THREE TO FIFTEEN INDIVIDUALS WITH DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS WHO SHARE A COMMON BOND; MEET FOR PRAYER, EDIFICATION, AND EVANGELISM Without PURPOSE and ORGANIZATION cell groups wont achieve their desired results. Besides the leader and co-leader, who does the ministering in the group? INDIVIDUALS IN THE GROUP List the three different types of students vital for cell growth. SEEKERS, BROKENWINGED CHRISTIANS, STRONG OR MATURE CHRISTIANS Describe the following: Type A unbeliever OPPOSED TO ANYTHING THAT INVOLVES THE CHURCH AND CHRISTIANITY Type B unbeliever HAS AN OPENNESS TO THE GOSPEL AND MAY BE READILY OPEN TO CHRIST IF JUST GIVEN A CHANCE The Broken-winged Christian is either a HURTING Christian who needs support or a NEW Christian who needs GUIDANCE. What are the mature Christians the lifeline of the group? BRING THE MOST NEW STUDENTS AND DO THE MAJORITY OF MINISTERING TO THE GROUP Without the proper BALANCE the group will STAGNATE, DIE, be FRUITLESS or move away from the ORIGINAL INTENT of the cell. If you have too many NON-CHRISTIANS they will DOMINATE the group. If you have too many NEW or HURTING Christians then the group has a tendency to turn into a SUPPORT group. If you have a group that has too many STRONG Christians you tend to have a group with an INWARD FOCUS. List solutions to insure proper balance for each problem. Too Many Seekers in One Group TALK TO ZONE SERVANT ABOUT TRANSFERING SOME OF THE POTENTIAL LEADERS FROM ANOTHER GROUP INTO YOURS, ASK STRONG CHRISTIAN FRIENDS OF YOURS TO JOIN THE GROUP Too Many Strong Christians in One Group DISBAND THE GROUP AND START A NEW ONE, MAKE THE PEOPLE IN YOUR GROUP LEADERS AND HAVE THEM START THEIR

I. THE NEED FOR WORKSHEETS DUTIES: LOCATION OF CELL GROUP AFTER THE NEXT MEETING How far in advance should a house be secured for the cell group? TWO WEEKS CELL GROUP PARTICIPANTS HAVE BEEN CALLED FOR NEXT MEETING It is important to call everyone who has ever been to your cell group because when youre dealing with people, youre dealing with FORGETFULNESS. How often should you call the people in your cell? AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK How soon should you call a first time visitor? WITHIN 24 HOURS SHARE THE VISION STATEMENT AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH MEETING When you share the vision you are giving a brief explanation of WHY the cell group is meeting and stating to everyone that the group will eventually MULTIPLY. I. WHY MULTIPLY The way we keep the cell groups small is by MULTIPLYING the group whenever it starts to get too LARGE. II. BEFORE YOU MULTIPLY Multiplying the cell group should be stressed as a POSITIVE move and should be looked FORWARD to. It is tempting at times to keep whole groups of friends together, but it is important that some of them BRANCH off to meet NEW people and experience new POINTS OF VIEW. III. WHEN YOU MULTIPLY What should be done to help the co-leader assume the leadership of the new group? THE OLD LEADER SHOULD HELP THE NEW LEADER PREPARE FOR THE MEETING TO HELP NEW LEADER ADJUST It is best to multiply a group by BALANCE if you can. One way of dividing up large groups of friends or achieving an even balance is by splitting the whole group up into smaller groups of THREE before you split. Another way is to just TELL them which groups they are going into. IV. AFTER YOU MULTIPLY Most people do not like CHANGE very much. How long does it usually take for things to settle down and people to open up after you multiply? FOUR TO SIX WEEKS
