The French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MAEE) and the GDF SUEZ Group have decided to create a scholarship program with Ecole Polytechnique for high-level foreign students to study in France. They are pleased to launch this program for the academic year 2012-2013. The scholarship programme, which comes under the QUAI DORSAY / ENTREPRISES scheme operated by the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, is a publicprivate partnership designed to provide optimal conditions for student life in France, including a personalized welcome and learning environment. Applicants are selected jointly by the MAEE, GDF SUEZ and French higher education partner institutions. The programme, which is cofinanced by GDF SUEZ and the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs for the 2012/2013 academic year, is intended for students from Brazil, Chile, India and Lebanon who are currently enrolled at university in their home countries. Only candidates with the nationality of these four countries are eligible for the program. For the 2012/2013 academic year, 4 to 6 scholarships will be awarded.
AREA OF STUDY
The study scholarships cofinanced by GDF SUEZ and the MAEE are awarded for one year of studies in France in the second year of a Masters program (M2) in the following specializations at Ecole Polytechnique, Paris:
Master Renewable Energy Science & Technology Master Water, Air, Pollution & Energy at local & regional scales

Following the selection procedure, if you are awarded a scholarship under the program cofinanced by GDF SUEZ /MAEE, you will receive:
from the MAEE and with funding from the French Embassy:
social, medical, and civil liability insurance cover that will give you the status of French government scholarship student and related advantages, including simplified visa applications, access to cultural activities at an attractive price; intensive French-language courses before leaving for France, provided by the Alliances franaises network in your country of origin.
Please note that the airfare to and from France is payable by the students.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
you are no more than 28 years of age in the year in which you are selected; you are not already benefiting from a scholarship from the French government or from another company; you do not have a previous commitment with another company at the time of your arrival in France, such as company grant, an open-ended employment contract, an apprenticeship contract, etc.; you are a student in your country of origin and have at least completed 4 years of undergraduate studies in Science or Engineering; you show an interest in the GDF SUEZ Group; you send a full application containing all the documents required (cf. section entitled Mandatory application documents).
Important observations: bi-national students are not eligible for the scholarship program if their second nationality is French; applications for apprenticeship or continuing education courses will be rejected outright; a good command of English is a prerequisite. A good command of French is an advantage in the selection process and should be regarded as one of the objectives to be reached by the end of your stay.
You must submit your application for admission in a Masters program at Ecole Polytechnique. Application deadlines: 1st session: 15 FEBRUARY 2012 2nd session: 1 MAY 2012 Before the 11 MAY 2012, you must submit your application for a scholarship of the program cofinanced by GDF SUEZ/MAEE, electronically to the French Embassy. If the scholarship application you sent to the Embassy is admissible, the French Embassy in your country of origin will send you a notification to attend an interview on the day the Selection Committee of the scholarship program cofinanced by GDF SUEZ / MAEE is scheduled to meet. Between 4 and 8 JUNE 2012, the Committee for the preselection of applicants for a scholarship will be convened in your country of origin under the authority of the French Embassy. It will be made up at least of a representative of the Embassys Cooperation and Cultural Action Service (SCAC), and of a representative of the GDF SUEZ Group subsidiary in your country of origin. Selected applications will be sent to Paris electronically by the French Embassies in the countries concerned no later than 13 JUNE 2012. On 20 JUNE 2012, on the proposal of the preselection Committee in your country of origin, the final list of selected applicants will be drawn up by consultation between GDF SUEZ and the MAEE. Following the examination of your application, you will be informed by the Embassy whether it has been selected for the award of a scholarship cofinanced by GDF SUEZ/MAEE or rejected.
If your application is successful, you will be responsible for ensuring that you are formally enrolled at Ecole Polytechnique. You will be declared a winner of a scholarship under the program cofinanced by GDF SUEZ /MAEE only on condition that you have been formally admitted to that institution.
WHAT ARE THE SELECTION PROCEDURES? The following selection criteria are taken into account:
excellence of the applicant, as reflected by his/her previous university experience; the applicants career goals; strong interest in working in an energy & environmental professions; willingness to contribute to the development of your zone or country of origin; the applicant's level of French and English; the applicants degree of autonomy, adaptability, intellectual curiosity, and team spirit.
