PASADENA COVENANT CHURCH

Two New Life Groups

Womens Story Share is an intergenerational life group for women of diverse lifestyles and backgrounds. Group members will collaborate on a creative recycledtextile project inspired by the art of Japanese boro cloth. The project will involve creating a collaborative art piece out of fabric remnants that symbolize Gods grace in the life stories of each woman. Be prepared to share the beauty of your story and discover the ways our stories link us together as a community. The group will meet on Sunday nights from 6-8 pm in the Santa Barbara room from Feb. 23 May 11 (no meeting on March 9). Questions? E-mail Sallie Carey at salliekc@gmail.com.

Cross-Cultural Communication Specialists Praise & Prayer Requests

Jared & Hannah are missionaries with the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) and are our newly supported ECC cross-cultural workers. From 2009 2012 they served as short-term missionaries in Antwerp, Belgium. Jared served as pastor to youth & families and later as the interim senior pastor at the Antwerp International Protestant Church. Hannah was a part of the Covenant Mosaics Project, which is an initiative in Europe to reach out to marginalized people groups with the gospel. Specifically, Hannah did outreach among Muslim immigrants and victims of sex trafficking. Jared & Hannah were recently commissioned as long-term missionaries. In March, they will begin a new phase of ministry in the city of Marseille, France. Here is what they will be doing: Jared: France has been called the least evangelized country in Western Europe, and it is estimated that around 80% of French people have never owned a Bible. The ECC has been in partnership with the French Evangelical Free Church since 1996, and the Free Church has expressed a desire for trained leaders to come alongside their national pastors and support them. To that end, I will be working at a local French Evangelical Church in Marseille, assisting the lead pastor with pastoral duties at the church. In addition, I will also take on the bookkeeping and administrative tasks for Covenant World Missions Regional Coordinators for Europe and Africa. Hannah: In Marseille, I will be joining three other Covenant missionaries who are currently working with the Covenant Mosaics Project. Specifically, I will be doing outreach among a Muslim people group in Marseille. Our Covenant colleagues have made very good connections with this Muslim community and have had many opportunities to live a life of witness to Christ among them. I will also be exploring opportunities for service among victims of sex trafficking in Marseille. As a prominent port city in France, Marseille is a destination and transit city for human trafficking. Praises Praise God that we have reached our goal of being 100% funded! Thank you Pasadena Covenant for helping us to reach that goal! (continued on page 4)

Page 5 (continued from page 3)

Praises (continued) We are grateful for the opportunity Hannah has had to work on her Masters of Intercultural Studies at Fuller Seminary. She now only has 4 courses left to complete online Prayers We are currently in the process of collecting documents for our visa applications. Please pray that all of our documents will be accepted and our visas will be granted. We will be taking immersion French courses from March 30 August 15th. Please pray for us as we learn this new language and prepare for ministry in Marseille.

Greeters and Ushers Needed

Two service mean we need a bit more help. An easy way to help is to be an usher or greeter. Basically, ushers smile, hand out bulletins and count attendees during the 9:00 or 10:30 service. Greeters smile, say Welcome or Good morning, are ready to answer questions like where is the worship service?, hand out the campus map if it is helpful, and give out the gift mug or note cards to newcomers. You can work before the 9:00 service, between the 9 and 10:30 service, or after the 10:30 service. Contact Cindy Moseley at cam90546@yahoo.com. Need more specifics? Heres what a typical Sunday morning would look like:
Ushers for the 9:00 am service: Arrive at 8:45 am Hand out Bulletins and welcome all who come through the doors Help count the adult attendees Take the offering. Ushers for the 10:30 am service: Arrive at 10:15 Hand out Bulletins and welcome all who come through the doors Help count the adult attendees after the sermon on the first worship song. Take the offering. Greeters for the 9:00 service Arrive at 8:45 am and welcome all who pass by and answer questions Greeters between the two services: Arrive at 9:55 am to give out gift mugs or notes cards to the newcomers and greet those coming to the 10:30 service and answers questions. Greeters after the 10:30 service: Be at the kiosk after the service to give out gift mugs or note cards to newcomers.
