Added Entry Divisions The Monster Shark Tournament rules are divided into two sections; General Tournament Rules and the Added Entry Divisions. All General Tournament Rules apply to all Added Entry Divisions of the Tournament. Any rule changes to either section will be covered at the Captains Meeting (3:00 4:00 PM) on Thursday, 7/17/14 in the Pier 49 Seafood & Spirits at the Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina. All boats must first pay the tournament entry fee and be registered in the 28th Annual Monster Shark Tournament to be eligible for any of the Added Entry Divisions. All sharks must meet minimum weight standards defined by the General Tournament Rules. All sharks must be caught under the General Tournament Rules to be eligible for Added Entry Division prize(s) and/or prize money. Added Entry Divisions will be based on total accumulated points for the two days of fishing as defined by the General Tournament Rules. A 1099 will be issued to Added Entry Division winners. Each Added Entry Division is independent from the others. Entering the Added Entry Divisions can result in large prize/monetary winnings, but is completely optional. Each boat may be entered in as many Added Entry Divisions (Level A, B, C, D) as the anglers feel their capabilities and skills will allow. Registration for Added Entry Divisions Registration for the Added Entry Divisions begins after the Captains Meeting on July 17th (starting at approximately 4:00 PM and continuing until approximately 5:30PM). Cash payment ONLY - NO checks or credit cards will be accepted. Added Entry Division Fees will be accepted on July 17th only. Added Entry Divisions (Level A, B, C, and D) will pay out a minimum of $7,500 in total prize money or 95% of the total money collected within the Added Entry Division, whichever amount is greater.
Levels A, B, C, D: Added Entry Divisions are based on the combined score of the two days of fishing. Each Added Entry Division will pay out for first place, second place and third place finishers at 50%, 30%, 20%. If a second or 3rd place qualifying shark is not caught, that money will go to the first place winner. If a 3rd place qualifying shark is not caught, that money will be split evenly between the first place and second place finishers. If NO minimum weight shark is caught, that prize money will be refunded (less 5%). Any prize money refunds will be refunded by check and mailed to the registered party as identified on the Added Entry Division Application.
Added Entry Fees Award Summary $1,000 highest scoring shark each day, then top 3 finishers receive; First Level A $600 50%, Second - 30%, Third - 20% Level B $1,200 Top 3 finishers, First - 50%, Second - 30%, Third - 20% Level C $2,500 Top 3 finishers, First - 50%, Second - 30%, Third - 20% Level D $5,000 Top 3 finishers, First - 50%, Second - 30%, Third - 20% To be eligible for prize money/award(s) all fish must meet the minimum weights set by the tournament.
