* In some places on Mt. Athos, immediately after the response "It is proper and right" in the Liturgy of St. Basil, this
melody of "Lord, have mercy" is chanted repeatedly until the priest completes the silent prayer "O Existing One, Master,
Lord God..." However, it may be unnecessary when more than one priest is serving, since the presiding priest can
complete this prayer while another priest says the next petition.
