The Keys To Kindness - Compassion

The very first thing that we see is the Samaritans compassion on the injured man.
Compassion is the foundation to kindness. Compassion is what you feel when you see someone in need. Kindness is what you do ! !! because of that compassion. Notice in Mark 6:34 the two together. And ! Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with ! for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. compassion ! So He began to teach them many things. When Jesus Christ saw the multitude! in need, He had compassion. He knew that something needed to be done, !and through the kindness of His heart He taught them the truth. How many ! times have we seen people in need? Im not talking about people on ! the side of the road looking for handouts, but those that work hard and ! still have tough times. Have you ever felt like you wanted to help? That if you had more money or time youd give it to them? Then youve ! felt compassion. It was compassion that God had when He allowed for ! Noah and his family to survive the flood. It was compassion that He had when He ! sent Christ do die on the cross for all of mankind. I urge you to ! the moments when you feel compassion. Its your hearts way of ! not ignore ! to do something. If thats the case, then listen to it; even if that telling you means giving a little of yourselves in the process. ! Colossians 3:12 tells us, Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and ! beloved, ! put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering This week, I challenge you to be kind to someone. ! Although weve only touched the surface on our subject, we can still start ! today. When you feel that sense of compassion take over you, act on it. ! Find a time to do something nice, whether you feel compassion or not. You ! what that moment will do for them. Even opening the door for! never know a person !might very well open their heart to the Lord. Remember, you do ! through your actions as you do with your words. just as much

THE KEYS TO KINDNESS: COMPASSION

! !a week ago I was walking into ! the grocery store when I saw an About ! ! ! older lady putting groceries into her car. She had a full cart, and I felt compelled to help her out. Something interesting happened shortly after ! finishing that has changed my perspective on kindness. As I walked away I felt happy. I know it might sound a bit funny, but I felt much happier. Thats when I realized how powerful kindness could be. Not only did it help this sweet lady get her groceries in her car, but also helped me as a Christian. In the world that we live in today, its difficult sometimes to focus on anything other than ourselves. Every day we make decisions based on the impact that choice is going to have on ourselves. What if we changed the way we thought? What if the whole world changed the way it thought? It was Charlie Chaplin, comedic actor, who beautifully said, We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. What does kindness even look like? Honestly, it comes in many different shapes and sizes. So to give you an exact definition is difficult because there is no exact formula. However, we do have an example in the Bible that we can turn to in our efforts to be kind. The Parable of the Good Samaritan paints a picture of kindness for each of us to use in our lives. So, for the next few weeks each article will uncover another aspect of kindness from the actions of the Good Samaritan. We will strengthen our hearts, minds, and attitudes about kindness, not only to better ourselves, but better the world around us. Luke 10:30-36 gives us the story of the Good Samaritan. It's a parable that many of us are familiar with, but it gives us a great ! starting point on our journey toward kindness. It begins by introducing us to a man who had been robbed, wounded, and left to die. Alone, and in pain, he lay there as people passed right by. We will pick up in verse 33 which says, But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.
