    SACRED HEART NORTH QUINCY

    MARCH MADNESS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

    March 19 th , 20 th, 21 st , 22 nd , 23 rd , 2014

    (Teams coming from a distance will play on 3/22 and 3/23)

    Place: North Quincy High, Atlantic Middle & Quincy Catholic

    Nine Separate Divisions Boys ~ Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8


    Girls ~ Grades 3&4, 5&6, 7&8
    Note: We may break up girls into grades if we get enough teams

    Entrance Fee: $225 per team

    Guaranteed 3 games / pool format / play to championship / awards


    The top team in each pool will advance to championship. Reservations are on a
    first come first served basis. (We will accept 6 teams in most age brackets)
    Note: we reserve the right to adjust the schedule for unfilled positions in the pools.

    MARCH MADNESS 2014 TOURNAMENT RULES

    TIMING

    1) Two 14 minute stop time halves, with one - 2 minute overtime period followed by 1
    minute overtime periods if necessary.
    2) The clock will not stop if one team has a lead of20 points or more.
    3) Three full time outs per game. One full time out for eachovertime(non accumulative)

    FOULS

    4) Five personal fouls per player.


    5) Shoot 1 on 1 on the 10th foul of each half. Shoot two shots on the 12th foul of the half.
    6) One technical foul on the coach or bench will require that the coaches remain seated
    for the duration of the game. Two technical fouls on a player or a coach will result in
    the ejection from the game and gymnasium and automatic suspension from his teams
    next game!
    N.B. -- Head coaches are responsible for the behavior of their players, asst. coaches,
    spectators, as well as themselves.
    MISCELLANEOUS
    7) No pressing (full or half court), when a team is leading by more than 10 points.
    8) Playing time is the coachs decision.
    11) Matching shirts with numbers worn by all players please.
    12) A team must have 5 players to start the game. Please try to arrive 15 minutes prior to
    game time. We will be on a tight schedule!
    13) 28.5 basketball will be used in all divisions except Boys grade 7 and grade 8
    SPECIAL RULES for 3 rd & 4 th GRADE TEAMS
    14) Foul line is 12 feet instead of usual 15 feet for grade 3 and 4 only.
    15) Man-to-man defense only is allowed. Help and recover systems are legal. Double
    teaming the ball is allowed. Double teaming an individual player is not allowed.
    PENALTY- ONE WARNING & THEN 1 FREE THROW FOR EACH SUBSEQUENT OFFENSE
    16) Full court pressing is allowed in the last 3 minutes of the game for grade 3

    the last 4 minutes of each half in grade 4


    Teams may utilize zone presses in the backcourt but must fall back into a man-to-man
    defense in the front court.
    TIEBREAKERS
    1-- Head to head
    2 -- Point differential (plus or minus) up to a 10 point maximum differential per game.
    3 -- Fewest points allowed (average per game)
    4 -- Foul shooting
