Rather, it should be used to highlight the positive space (the words) Each listing (category title, job title, dates, bullet points) should be vertically aligned to match the corresponding listing, e.g. you should be able to draw a straight line through the first letter of each category title (see the two resumes you picked up).
Resume Layout
We are going to examine the resumes from the blue
packet. You will view each resume for 30 seconds. Afterward, you will have one minute to answer the prompts below. Answer each question in your notebook. Do not review the resume as you answer the questions.
What categories did the author use? List the skills the author wrote about? What skills match the objective? Choose one highlight of the resume and explain why you chose it.

Does the authors name stand out? How the author uses negative space Do the skills and achievements match the objective? Which font type is better? Why? Is the writing parallel? Is there vertical and horizontal symmetry between the different elements (category title; dates; bullets)?

Identifying key words, and then using them in your
resume, is an important step to getting noticed. With the possibility for thousands of applications, companies need to streamline the hiring process. They do this with, what else, software. Specifically, software systems that identify the specified keywords. Key words are going to be
Action verbs (organize, implement, strategize) Specific, job related nouns (cross-departmental, interior design) Adjectives and adverbs that correspond with the above nouns and verbs (tenacious, seasoned, professional, cooperative, creative)
