17/06/2012 Studio 1 initial release 1.0.

06/07/2012 Release 1.1

This release solves the following issues:
-Problems and exceptions while using the Elad FDM-S1;
Float32 ExtIO format is now fully handled (Elad dlls).
-Studio 1 Internal error..." window pop-up in various situations.
New features:
Start-up
Auto-ExtIO selections as input source at start-up:
if an ExtIO dll is loaded at start-up and the corresponding
hardware is connected and ready, the program selects that
ExtIO as the input source.
Workspaces
Each workspace now stores additional information:
-Position of the main window
-Position and visibility of the recorder window
Tuning
-Added 8.33 KHz and 12.5 KHz mouse steps.
-Added tuning by clicking on the Main Spectrum waterfall.
20/07/2012 Release 1.1b
This release solves the following issues:
- Errors when switching from wave file input to ExtIO (with some ExtI
O)
- Noise Blankers not working correctly
- Incorrectly shown time playing Perseus IQ files
- Aux Spectrum (SP2) last overlap mode (TIME, MIX, FREQ) not saved
- Some minor stability issues
New features:
- SAM offset indication
While in SAM mode, the offset between the current tuning
frequency and the actual carrier frequency is displayed
in the RX Control window.
The offset is computed as an average of the SAM PLL frequency.
This feature can be useful to check for hardware calibration
(given a reference signal) and general signals frequency estimation
.
Errors in the audio sample rate from the sound card reference do no
t
influence the precision of the value indicated.
08/08/2012 Release 1.1c
This release solves the following issues:
- After program quitting, task manager reports Studio 1 still loaded
with high CPU resources used; the issue is seen only if the
ExtIO_perseus.dll is loaded at session start and the hardware is
disconnected.
- Some Studio 1 windows are shown incorrectly when the DPI setting in
Windows is other than 96.
- Frequency calibration is ineffective on Studio 1 recorded files
(see new features).
New features:
- Reverse mouse wheel option
Now the increment/decrement wheel direction can be selected at
application instance level.
The setting is located here: Main window->SETT.->MISC
- Improved frequency calibration
Starting from this release Studio 1 will use a new, much better way
to perform the hardware frequency compensation.
Perfect calibration can be achieved inside the whole hardware recepti
on
range and through the full range of the Studio 1 LO.
Now IQ recordings are also compensated.
Please note: in order to perform the correct frequency compensation
Studio 1 needs to know the tuning frequency of the hardware at the
recording moment; usually this information is embedded in the file
itself but when a frequency converter is used, the frequency stored
with the file is different from the true hardware frequency due to
the offset.
So, for consistent results, when playing such a file it is mandatory
to activate the same offset used for recording.

- Squelch status indication
A visual indication of the squelch status has been added:
squelch disabled -> squelch slider colour is green
squelch enabled signal above threshold -> squelch slider colour is gr
een
squelch enabled signal below threshold -> squelch slider colour is gr
ey
- Minimum selectivity filter bandwidth
Changed from 100 Hz to 4 Hz.
20/08/2012 Release 1.1d
This release solves the following issues:
- Frequency errors when playing Perseus files
- Frequency errors in the SP1 window using the frequency calibration
(see below)
New features:
In rel. 1.01d all the frequency calibration issues have been solved.
For recorded files, please note that one part of the calibration proc
ess
is done at recording time (as with the Perseus software), so you have
to
enter the correct PPM cal. value for the used hardware before recordi
ng.
It is no more necessary to enable the offset feature while playing fi
les,
as previously stated.
If the correct PPM value is set, the maximum freq. error is < 1 Hz
(providing that the hardware is stable).
26/08/2012 Release 1.1e
This release solves the following issues:
- VRX parameters are not saved correctly.
- Input level issues in combination with the QS1R receiver.
This is a temporary fix until the new ExtIO will be available.
- Issues in the WRPnfdc.dll file.
12/09/2012 Release 1.1f
This release solves the following issues:
- On some systems and with certain settings the DSP engine apparently
doesnt start.
Deleting the registry settings usually cures the problem.
- Sometimes after hours of continuous operation one or more of the VR
X
threads suddenly stop working (it can be the DSP, SP1, SP2 or a
combination of these).
- Other stability issues.
12/10/2012 Release 1.2 beta
New features:
- initial CAT implementation (see the quick start guide for details)
29/10/2012 Release 1.2b beta
New features:
- native Tmate controller support
(see the quick start guide, p.9.0)
- Minimize/restore all option
(see the quick start guide, p.2.10)
- Auto decimal separator correction
(see the quick start guide, p.2.9)
03/12/2012 Release 1.2c beta
This release solves the following issues:
- Sequential playing of IQ wave files recorded with
Studio 1 (Winrad format) fails if the files are
moved to another folder.
- A rare stability problem.
- RDS info window: position of the AF and
RESET buttons when the window is resized.
New features:
- Improved compatibility with Perseus IQ files:
added sequential playing functionality.
- Time marks in SP1 and SP2 waterfalls now show
the time of the recording when playing IQ files.
If the file is of an unknow format (not Winrad,
Perseus or Spectravue), the marks show current
time instead.
Marks are always in UTC time when playing
IQ files while current time can be local or UTC,
according to the UTC time option (see below).
- UTC time option: this new parameter is located
at Main->SETT.->MISC->SHOW UTC TIME
When this feature is enabled, UTC time is displayed
(instead of local time) on the main window clock
and on time marks inside the SP1 - SP2 waterfalls.

- Added VRX related Keyboard shortcuts: for the complete
list see the updated "Quick Start Guide".
- FM RDS: the demodulation of the Radio Data System
has been improved. Now lock time is faster and
the system works better in marginal S/N conditions.
12/12/2012 Release 1.2d beta
This release solves an issue related to the "direct frequency
entering" introduced in rel. 1.2c.
20/03/2013 Release 1.3 beta
This release solves the following issues:
- Incomplete windows update of disabled VRXs
while DSP is running.
- "Quick Browse" feature in SP2 doesn't work
properly in WFM-SWFM mode.
- Waterfall average is active even if disabled in
settings, when zoom is in full spectrum mode
and the interpolator is active.

New features:

Audio/demodulation/DSP
- Improved audio output quality due to redesigned
output upsamplers/filtering.
The improvement regards reception modes using
an internal SR of 12KHz (AM, SAM, CW, SSB)
and 24KHz (USER, NFM).
- Redesigned output fractional resampler; added an
option to bypass it.
- Added output routing option (Left, Right, Both)
for each VRX (RC Control->SETT.->OUT).
- Further improvements in RDS demodulation
in low S/N conditions.
- Refined FM stereo decoder.
- Added DC Offset compensation controls in the
"Channel Skew Adj Panel".
CPU
- Improved efficiency when the ExtIO data format is
24 bit/sample (for example Perseus).
- Improved efficiency in WFM - SWFM modes.

Tuning
- Improved AFC/AFT.
- Added 1 Hz and 6.25 KHz tuning steps.
- Added the "Snap on Tuning Step" feature.
When tuning by clicking on the SP1 window, the
actual selected frequency is the nearest multiple
of the current tuning step.

GUI
- SP2 settings: added option "OSD Abs. Freq."; when enabled
the cursor OSD shows the absolute frequency.
- SP2 window: added the "FMAF" button.
When this option is enabled, in FM mode the SP2 shows the
spectrum of the demodulated signal (baseband) instead of
the IF.
Scaling is performed as follows:
FM Submode Peak deviation Spectrum level
NFM 5 KHz -10 dB
MFM 20 KHz -10 dB
WFM - SWFM 75 KHz -10 dB
- RDS Info window: revised, more compact layout.
The window position, size and status parameters are now
saved in the workspace.
