Michigan State University
Michigan State University, or MSU, is located in East Lansing, Michigan. It is a great
university to go to. It is one of the top research universities in the world. It has a great forensic
department, which is what I want to major in. It is a fantastic school to enter.
Michigan State University has received many rewards. Today, it is one of the top
research universities in the world. U.S. News & World Report's 2014 edition of America's Best
Colleges ranks MSU 29th among the nation's public universities. The publication consistently
ranks MSU among the top 100 national universities in its annual rankings. MSU ranks as the
sixth best university to work for in the United States. MSU is one of two Big Ten universities to
rank in the top 10 for international student enrollment and study abroad participation. It also is
one of the largest campuses in the United States. Of course there is some of its recognitions it has
gotten there is still many more awards that MSU has received.
Michigan State University has a great Forensic program. It has some of the most modern
research and teaching forensic science laboratories in the country. MSU has been recognized as a
premier institution for research and education in forensic science for a long time. The professors
and their graduate students work with crime laboratories, improving techniques, and addressing
key issues to forensic science. The cool thing is that they actually work with real cases helping
the legal community.
Michigan State University or MSU is a great university to go. I would love go there one
day when Im older. I think it would be such a great experience. I cant wait to be a Spartan.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Massachusetts Institute of Technology or (MIT) is a prestigious school known for its
engineering programs. These programs range from Aerospace engineering to Womens and

Gender Studies. However, the field I wish to major in is Electrical Engineering. This would be
the perfect School for this field of study because MIT is the best school for technology and
sciences in the United States.
MIT is a great school that has received many awards such as the Nobel Prize Laureates
and the MacArthur Genius Grant. Unfortunately, a school this prestigious has a low acceptance
rate of only 8.9%. Although MIT is very well known for its academics, it also has a variety of
athletics from Baseball to Water Polo. So, overall MIT is a well-rounded school in both athletics
and academics.
One major part of a university is where it is located. For example, MIT is located in
Cambridge, Massachusetts. Therefore, something important a person should know about
Cambridge is that, it has a cold climate that ranges from 22-82 degrees yearly. Another important
thing to know about Cambridge is that it has a 5 out of 10 crime rate, which compared to El
Pasos crime rate is bad, but compared to other major cities, it has a fairly decent crime rate.
Also Cambridge has a population of 105,162, which may seem low, but that is simply because
more people prefer to live in Boston and other surrounding cities. Finally Cambridge has an
average household income of approximately $497,200 per year, and the cost of living is around
$660 per month (excluding the cost of other necessities).
Chapel Hill University
Chapel Hill University located at Chapel Hill North Carolina was the first public
university ever in the United States, opening its doors in 1789. The University of Chapel Hill
offers 78 Bachelors, 112 Masters, 68 doctorate and seven professional degree programs through
its 14 schools and the college of arts and science. The career that I am personally trying to
achieve is a bachelor in Psychology which is included in the 78 Bachelors that are offered at

UNC. Other than just pursuing my career and having academic readiness I also plan on taking
extracurricular classes and sports, this is another main reason why it is a dream of mine to attend
UNC. UNC participates in 13 male and 15 female varsity sports without counting the clubs and
intramural sports making it a better campus for people who, like me want to get involved in
extracurricular activities.
The University of North Carolina features some of the top architecture that could not be
found anywhere else, including an old well which was constructed in 1897 and an amphitheater
that was built in 1916 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Shakespeares death and many other
very old buildings that have been declared national historic landmarks. Kenan Memorial Stadium
is the home of Carolinas football team. Built in 1927, the stadium has undergone a series of
renovations, expansions and upgrades over the years. Set back from Stadium Drive among the
Carolina pines, the 60,000-seat Kenan Stadium is one of the most beautiful football facilities in
the country.
The Carolina Covenant is part of Carolinas commitment to making college possible for
qualified students regardless of their financial means. Carolina ranks among the top U.S. public
universities in research support. NC is among the nations 1st public research universities (Top
American Research Universities, 2011).42nd among the worlds top 400 universities (Times
Higher Ed., 201213. UNCs mission is to serve as a center for research, scholarship and
creativity and to teach a diverse community of undergraduate, graduate and professional students
to become the next generation of leaders. The school's mascot is a Ram. In addition to making
UNC one of the best universities in the country Carolina is making a strong bid to become the
leading public research university in the nation. Carolinas research enterprise has doubled in the
last decade, reaching nearly $800 million in extramural support.

It is also of my interest to attend UNC because of its location in Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill
is a city with a population of 58,424 with 46.6% male and 53.4% females. Chapel Hill has an
unemployment rate of 5.6% which means it is easier for people to find a job and have a better
living. Chapel Hill is a city that organizes many events for its community and this is something I
am looking forward to. UNCs weather is also a pro because 260 out of 365 days of the year are
sunny, there is 180 rainy days and there is a 46.2 rainfall average which to me represents the
perfect place to live in.
