Installation Instructions Manual

The purpose of this manual is:


1- To provide the installer with the basic directions and recommendations for
the proper installation and adjustment of the water heater.
2- To explain the features, operations and safety precautions of the Titan
Electronic Tankless Water Heater to the owner-operator.
Installation of a tankless water heater is NOT considered a do-it-yourself
project. The installation of a Titan electronic tankless water heater is relatively
simple and can be done by any licensed plumber and electrician contractor.
The instructions are very simple and specifc. If your installer has any questions
regarding the installation, he can contact us for assistance. See support page
on our website www.tanklesswaterheater.com.
Be sure to read and understand the entire manual before attempting to install
or operate the Titan Tankless Water Heater. It may save you time and cost. Pay
particular attention to the safety instructions. Failure to follow these warnings
could result in damage to the unit and to property. If you have problems
understanding the instructions in this manual STOP and get help from a
qualifed professional or contact customer support.
Keep this manual in a safe place.
Installation
MOUNTING OF TITAN TANKLESS WATER HEATER
Niagara Industries supplies each heater
with a mounting kit containing four (4)
sheet metal screws and two (2) supporting
brackets in a plastic bag.
These brackets can be attached to the back
of the heater and allows the installer to secure
the heater to the wall without the need to open
the front cover.
Make sure to only use only the brackets
and screws that are provided in the
mounting kit. The use of longer screws
may damage the unit and void your
warranty.

Plumbing Installation
These units are designed to be installed using copper pipes with 1/2 or
3/4depending on the model number that is being installed.
Notice: Excessive heat from soldering on copper pipes near
the heater may cause internal damage to the unit.
Always fush all the water lines before connecting the unit
to the copper pipes.
After the unit is installed, open each hot water faucet
slowly to allow the air to vent from the water heater and piping.
Do not use tefon tape or plumbing paste on compression
fttings.
For ease of service, install a shut-off valve in both the inlet
and the outlet of the unit.
Secure the unit to the wall utilizing only the brackets and
compression fttings provided by Niagara Industries.
All plumbing work must comply with State and Local
plumbing codes.
PLEASE NOTE: When using any type of plastic pipe like Pex or CPVC you
MUST install 36 of cooper pipe to both the inlet and outlet of the unit,
DO NOT connect any plastic pipe directly to the unit, also when
using plastic pipes you MUST install a pressure relief valve.

Electric Installation
WARNING: Before beginning any work on the electric installation, be sure
that the main breaker panel switch is OFF to avoid any danger of electric
shock. All mounting and plumbing must be completed before proceeding with
electrical hook-up. All electrical work must comply with national and applicable
state and local electrical codes.
As with any electric appliance, failure to electrically ground unit may result in
serious injury.
The breaker should be of same size than the energy consumption of the model
being installed.
Make sure that all the connections are tight. DO NOT FORGET to install the
ground wire to the main breaker panel.
Before you energize the unit, allow water to circulate during approximately
20 seconds to make sure the unit doesnt work dry, which may damage the
heating elements.
Do not attempt to repair or replace any part of the tankless water heater, a
licensed qualifed technician should be contacted to diagnose any problem.
The Titan tankless water heater must be installed in accordance with these
instructions and local codes. In the absence of local codes, use the newer
edition of the National Electric Code.

Functions of the mode and temperature control
buttons.
Mode Button (white button)
The Mode (white) buttons functionality is to switch between 3 or 4
modes (depending on model) that show the performance of the water
heater.
Voltage
This is the default mode and shows the voltage being consumed and the
percentage it represents from the total voltage. When the voltage is at 100%
the water heater is working at full capacity. As that number starts to decrease the
energy savings increases. Voltage is displayed in Volts (V).
Current
The current mode shows the current being used and the percentage it represents
from total current. Current is being displayed in Amps (A)
Power
The power mode shows the amount of energy being consumed. It is the result of
the voltage times the current being utilized. Power is being displayed in Kilowatts
(KW).
Temperature
The temperature mode is a bonus mode only available in the Titan N-160. It is
intended for the users to see how hot the temperature is coming out of the water
heater. Temperature is being displayed in Fahrenheit (F).
Red Button
This button is used to increase the temperature of the water, please note that
the water has to be running through the unit in order to adjust the temperature.
Blue Button
This button is used to decrease the temperature of the water, please note that
the water has to be running through the unit in order to adjust the temperature.
Please note that safety and energy conservation are factors to be considered
when selecting the water temperature setting of the water heaters thermostat.
The lower the setting the greater the savings in energy and operating costs.

THE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS OF STATUTORY OR COMMON LAW
WARRANTIES AND LIABILITY.
LIMITATIONS OF WARRANTIES AND LIABILITIES:
THE END USER IS AWARE THAT THE MANUFACTURER AND AUTHORIZED
DEALERS OF THIS TANKLESS WATER HEATER CAN NOT GUARANTEE
THAT IT WILL NOT SUFFER A WATER LEAK OVER TIME. ITS LIFE DEPENDS
GREATLY ON THE WATER QUALITY AND PROPER INSTALLATION.
NIAGARA INDUSTRIES INC. AND ITS AUTHORIZED DEALERS ARE
NOT LIABLE TO END USERS OR THIRD PARTIES FOR INCIDENTAL,
CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL OR CONTINGENT DAMAGES OR EXPENSES
ARISING DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM ANY STRUCTURAL FAILURE
OF THE WATER HEATER. THE LIMIT OF LIABILITY SHALL BE TO REPAIR
OR REPLACE THE TANKLESS WATER HEATER DURING THE WARRANTY
PERIOD AT THE MANUFACTURE DISCRETION. NO OTHER WARRANTIES
APPLY. THERE ARE NO OTHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES WHICH
EXTEND BEYOND THE DESCRIPTION ON THE FACE HEREOF.
PLEASE RETURN THE WATER HEATER TO THE PLACE OF PURCHASE
FOR A FULL REFUND IF THESE TERMS OF THE WARRANTY ARE NOT
ACCEPTABLE.
CAUTION: Titan Tankless Water Heaters are manufactured with materials
that are resistant to corrosion due to poor water quality and galvanic
corrosion. However, the water quality in your area among other things may
have an effect on these materials. Sediment build-up inside the unit can also
occur thereby reducing the life of the water heater. Galvanic corrosion may
occur if the water heater is not properly installed with material designed
to reduce or eliminate this possibility. Therefore, it is important that your
water heater is install by a licensed professional who will consider these
factors and recommend ways for you to extend the life of the heater and
reduce or eliminate the possibility of a malfunction resulting in leaks and
expensive water damage to your home or offce. It is highly recommended
that the heater will be installed in an area that provides suffcient water
drainage to prevent damage to the walls, baseboards, appliances and other
fxtures in your home. If no foor drainage is available, a drip pan with a
minimum of 1 inch depth should be installed bellow the water heater and
connected to a suitable drain.
Alternatively, a proper leak detection system and shut-off components
should be incorporated in the installation of the water heater to turn off
your water supply in the event of a leak.
Consult your licensed professional installer for additional recommendations
on how to prevent extensive water damage to your home in the event of
a leak.
