Employment History
Instructional Specialist of EMS Education (August 2013-Present)
New River Community and Technical College: Beckley, WV
As the Instructional Specialist of EMS Education for New River CTC, I am responsible
for the development and initial education of the EMS Programs. I act as an advisor for
and instruct the EMT-Basic Courses across our service regions and the Paramedic
Courses at the Nicholas County Campus. I assess the effectiveness of the programs and
have cooperative involvement with the Medical Director and the College Administrators
at all times. I also assist in long-range planning and ongoing development of EMS
educational programs at New River CTC.
Critical Care Paramedic and Instructor (August 2013-Present)
STAT Ambulance Service: Pineville, WV
As an instructor for STAT, I am responsible for assisting in the continuing education of
current EMTs and Paramedic employees at STAT. As a CCT-Paramedic, I serve as a
CCT team member while identifying patient care requirements, establishing a
compassionate environment, assuring quality of care, documenting services and
developing and carrying out a plan of care equal to or greater than that care received at
the sending facility.

Paramedic (June 2014-Present)

Summit Bechtel Reserve: BSA & Mount Hope Fire & EMS Mount Hope, WV
As a paramedic for the Boy Scouts of America, I am responsible for accessing the
patient, and initiating the treatment & management of all illness and injuries. It is
imperative that I safely deliver the patient to the physicians at the health lodge on site and
provide assistance as needed.
ALS Program Coordinator (June 2008-August 2013)
Jan-Care Ambulance: Beckley, WV
As the ALS Program Coordinator for Jan-Care Ambulance, I was responsible for the
organization and education of the ALS Programs sponsored between Mountain State
University and Jan-Care Ambulance. I instructed the EMT-Intermediate, Intermediate to
Paramedic Bridge, and Paramedic Courses. I work with Jan-Care management to assess
the effectiveness of the program and had cooperative involvement with the Medical
Director and the University Administrator at all times. I am also responsible for
continuous quality review and improvement, as well as long-range planning and ongoing
development of ALS educational programs within Jan-Care Ambulance. Additionally, I
made recommendations for the appointment of the Instructional Faculty by the
sponsoring institution, and made the delegation of responsibilities as is appropriate to
those staff members while maintaining adequate controls to ensure the quality of those
responsibilities. In the fall of 2011, the change was made to move away from MSU and
our affiliation agreement was switched to New River Community and Technical College.
While the affiliations changed the duties remained, for the most part, the same. In the fall
of 2012, I was an integral component to the successful completion of the CoAEMSP
accreditation, a subcommittee of CAAHEP. While the programs at New River were
prepared for the inspection, they requested my documentation and expertise in program
development and execution to assist in the completion of the necessary requirements to
obtain accreditation status since I had already (during my time at General Ambulance
Service,) completed a similar accreditation process at the State level.

those staff members while maintaining adequate controls to ensure the quality of those

Paramedic (8/01-5/08)
General Ambulance: Oak Hill, WV
Patient care, public relations, S.A.F.E. Instructor, and CPR Instructor. On September 11,
2001, I was given the opportunity to help my fellow brethren out in New York City
following the attacks on the World Trade Center. As a Paramedic and an Officer on the
Special Operations Response Team, I was sent into ground zero to set up triage,
treatment, and morgue areas for the wounded workers and those victims found amidst the
rubble near building Seven of the World Trade Center, and our Response Team was
placed on standby in the event that they needed additional hands to work in the structural
collapse locating those bodies lost in this ridiculous attack on human life. I was
profoundly affected by the strength of the human spirit seen in the City, and I am glad for
the opportunity to see a moment of history taking place. I will always remember the
chance I was given to try to aid those brave heroes who lost their lives trying to save the
lives of others.

In the absence of the Pool Manager, I was responsible for managing the concessions and
the concessions staff as well. As head lifeguard, I also insured that the building, the

event of a break in, I was the initial contact person from the Emergency Operations
Center to respond to the facility to assist the Police Department in the verification of all
property and resetting the alarm system. I also assisted the pool manager during morning
swim lessons by instructing classes and overseeing the safety of those students.
Additionally I took great pride in working with the Physically Handicap swim hour, in
which a Lifeguard was paired up with a Challenged swimmer to teach them how to swim
and play with them so the parents can rest assured that their children are safe in the care
of a certified Lifeguard.
