New School News
A message from Mr. Harty,
Principal of the new school:
School Councils Come Together
This Thursday December 4th, at 7PM in the library at
East Front P.S., the School Councils of both Gladstone
and East Front will be coming together for the first
time. The main focus of this meeting will be the
formation of a Community Engagement
Committee. The discussion will also include the
beginning of a social media portal that will be easily
accessed from both schools Facebook pages, and
provide regular updates on the progress of the new
school. This will also provide all stakeholders with an up
to date picture of what is going on with the Community
Engagement Committee. Much like our School Council
meetings, this will be open to anyone who is interested in
attending. We look forward to being able to share new
school information with all of our valued stakeholders.

Picking up and dropping off

your child safely
Please let us know if your child will be absent or late for
school. If you need to pick up your child early from
school, our office administrator will be happy to assist
you. We kindly ask that all parents/guardians wait near
the front entrance while we call your son or daughter to
the office.
Our parking lots can become congested at busy times.
Please respect the safety of our special transportation
operators along with the students and staff who are
walking to and from these vehicles. We appreciate your
patience in this matter.

Childrens Charter of Rights

Many of our students participated in the Childrens
Charter of Rights poster competition. Congratulations to
Maria Khan who was one of the winners. Her work will
be displayed at the Benson Center.

Grizzly Athletics
Congratulations to our girls soccer team, coached by Mr.
Fraser, for winning the C-Championship at the beginning
of November.
Compliments go out to our Junior Co-ed volleyball team,
coached by Mrs. OBrien and Mme Wilson. They
demonstrated solid teamwork and sportsmanship,
winning two of their games last week.

Life Threatening Nut Allergies

We would like to remind you that our school has
students and/or staff with peanut allergies. We kindly
ask that you do not send products that contain peanuts.
There are food suppliers who are marketing peanut-free
products that look, taste, and smell like peanut butter.
These peanut butter substitute products can cause
confusion and create an unsafe environment for our
students and staff who are peanut anaphylactic.
Therefore, due to the difficulty in differentiating
between peanut butter and a peanut butter substitute, we
do not allow these products in our school. We thank you
for your support in keeping a safe environment for all.

Student Fundraisers
OSPCA
Thank you to all families who made donations to the
OSPCA. Last Friday, students were able to deliver two
tables full of items from toys, leashes, blankets, treats,
food, and bowls. Folks at the shelter were very
appreciative and we are extremely proud of our students
for helping their community.
Empowering Women
Our next project will focus on Empowering Women
through an alternative income initiative. We will be
raising funds to purchase goats to help women earn an
income in impoverished countries.
Please watch for more detailed information from Mr.
Bhatia.
Hot Dog Day
To kick-start the fundraising, there will be a special hot
dog day on Thursday, December 11th. Students can
purchase hot dogs for $2. A small bag of chips will be
given to each student who places an order: one bag of
chips per student only.
In the event of bad weather and bus cancellations,
food will not be provided on that day. Hot Dog Day
would be moved to Thursday, December 18th. All orders
would be honoured on that day.
Candy Cane Grams
Students will also be able to purchase candy cane grams
for fifty cents each. They will be delivered on Friday,
December 19th. More information will follow.

Holidays
From all of the staff at Gladstone PS, we wish you and
your family a wonderful and safe holiday. School ends
December 19th and will resume Monday, January 5th.
